How much blood does it take to be powerful enough to do that effectively? Last I checked, he was really lousy at compelling people. That was because he was drinking animinal blood wasen't it? So if he's had 2 months of human blood so I'm guessing that he's gotten good at it now.
Actually seeing the bodies being put back together reminded me of something a seriel killer would do;they feel remorse so they gover the body with a blanket or something.
It totally sounds plausible!
Also, I wonder if it’s bad to feel pity for someone who pretty much amounts to a murdering psychopath right now, but it’s Stefan and I can’t really do anything else. I do too,I just can't help it.
ITA about Damon not being in love with Elena. He knows what brotherly love but in love,no. He has never had it where both people felt it.
When Elena looped her arm through his remindes me a lot of what I do with plantontic male friends.
(I always fall in love with ships during the episode in which half of it dies Why does that always seem to happen?
You were so prompt!! :D I'm kinda flattered. *^_^* Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, school kinda took over my life there again (because I'd neglected it to write this...XP).
That was because he was drinking animinal blood wasen't it? Yeah, you're right. And I'm thinking that in these two months, he's had plenty of practice. :/
That putting the bodies back together signature IS such a serial killer thing! Soooooooo creepy.
I do too,I just can't help it. How does Stefan maintain the loveableness????
ITA about Damon not being in love with Elena. He knows what brotherly love but in love,no. He has never had it where both people felt it. And I kinda think that to really understand love, it's essential to have had it returned, ya know? And I'm really glad I'm not the only person who sees Damon/Elena that way. :)
When Elena looped her arm through his remindes me a lot of what I do with plantontic male friends. Good point!
I don't know why death-doomed ships are so captivating!
Very interesting insight. I'm loving the role reversal and the new storyline between the brothers. I loved pretty much everything in the premiere. Damon was perfect and Stefan too in his new role. My heart broke when Damon saw Andie dead and when he told Elena that Stefan was not coming back. I felt for him when trashed his brother room and when Stefan called Elena...oh boys so so so screwed...
The role reversal is THE BEST! I am so excited about it! They're doing it so well. This may honestly be my favorite premier, it's so amazing--so many heart-wrenching moments. And I'm (obviously) really loving all the stuff that's going on with the boys.
And, one more thing, being in love is a two way street (love isn’t true unless it’s returned and all that jazz). Unless the feeling is mutual, you aren’t in love. I think we often mistakenly think that one-sided feelings are just half of two-sided feelings, but they aren’t. They’re different animals.
I think this premise is where we part company and may be part of why I ship Damon-Elena and not Stefan-Elena. Because if asked the question "is love only true if it's returned?" I would answer "absolutely not; it's just not mutual". So, we have a different premise. And the question that matters more to me (since I believe that love is love regardless of whether or not it's returned in kind) is about knowledge

In regards to my assertion about love/being in love/true love, I may not have used the best terminology. And, to be honest, since you've made me think a lot of stuff with your response, I'm not sure how to articulate what I was really trying to get at. *^-^*
But that aside, you make an excellent point about Elena and her feelings for Stefan, one that I hadn't considered, but certainly should have. I think that we'll get the answer to the questions you posed this season. At least, I think they'll be answered to my satisfaction (and I don't mean by that that I'm sure Stefan and Elena will pull through, rather that we'll see whether or not Elena really loves Stefan as he is and as all he is) although I can't say much for anybody else's.

I actually think that in many cases of disagreement, the real disagreement lies in the way that people are using words - different people have slightly different definitions, and so I think that people end up talking past each other sometimes, because each side is using their own definition and not realizing that the other person has a different one. So, I was really glad that you defined what 'in love' meant to you because it means that I knew more about where you're coming from in the conversation.

WOW SO MANY EMOTIONS AND THINKIES!!brightstarmaraSeptember 20 2011, 09:28:42 UTC
You should also post this at the meta comm! I probably missed a million points...
It’s almost like being a ripper is something Stefan in part subconsciously created, created to keep from losing Damon. I agree that these two are so connected that it's unhealthy. But to me, Stefan has always (since he turned) been more into the killing and the fun and instinct of that than Damon was. It was Stefan who urged Damon to turn, and the speech he gave Damon to convince him just made that more clear to me. And also, Damon did walk into Stefan having fun killing those two girls way back when. So I think Stefan had that darkness before

I didn't even know there was a meta comm, but I certainly will do that! Thanks for the suggestion!
So I think Stefan had that darkness before. Absolutely. You don't become a person who eats and tears people apart because you need to need your brother. That's a bit *ahem* extreme. His need for Damon just compounded what was already part of him, I think.
Damon's attitude towards Stefan's handywork didn't seem cavalier to me. You're right about Damon having been through this all before--been there, done that, not impressed anymore. I kinda mean more that he doesn't care about the people who are dying. Obviously, that would be out of character for him, so I'm glad the writers didn't suddenly give him a bleeding heart but I still would like him to get to the point where he can think "These poor people, so much unnecessary carnage, so much undeserved death." Or something more Damon-sounding. :P
I agree that he doesn't know what love is, at least not romantic love. I was really worried about presenting that assertion. A big

And is that birthday card from him? I kinda feel like that was supposed to be the implication, but I wonder… Except it says "from Jeremy" or something similar! But you're right. It was odd timing and initially I was like... Oh, Stefan sneaked into her room... but then it said "from Jeremy" so... scratch that.
Some very interesting thoughts here. And I completely agree with your Damon/Andie summation and I definitely do think I (we) are in the minority with most of that... At least, that's the impression I've got.
I had a few problems with several of the scenes in the most recent episode so I won't comment too much more.
Except it says "from Jeremy" or something similar! Oops, yep! Thanks! I guess that makes more sense. A hand-drawn card from the artist instead of the errant boyfriend. I gotcha, show!
Some very interesting thoughts here. Thank you!
I completely agree with your Damon/Andie summation Yay! I totally thought I was gonna be all alone there. We are in the minority, unfortunately, like you said. The more I read around, the more I discover this.
