French Adventist church

A block or two east on College, there's a Seventh Day Adventist Church, with the main sign entirely in French, but on a side door is taped up a sign in English saying something like "use other door, Sion Church". Anyone here know what's up with it? Do we have an active French Adventist community in the area? What's the history?

whatwasthat?, religion

I'm pretty sure the church is part of the Haitian community, but other than that, I don't really know anything about it. They've been there several years now; I was under the impression that they'd bought the old Methodist church a little further up College Ave., but I don't know if that was true or not. Anyone?...

The Seventh Day Adventist church is a different Haitian congregation from Holy Bible Baptist, who bought the big old stone Methodist church.

EDIT: Here's Sion's page.

Huh, I hadn't thought of Haitians, I was imagining some French people who'd trickled south from Vermont or Quebec.

Thanks, both of you!

There used to be a French-language Catholic parish on Rindge Avenue in Cambridge, Our Lady of Pity. The parish closed a few years ago, and Vineyard Christian Fellowship (not French) took over their buildings.
EDIT: Vineyard changed its name to Reservoir Church some time in the last few months.
