How to undo today's LiveJournal user interface change

May 16, 2014 18:08

If your LiveJournal user interface and display suddenly changed today without warning, follow the instructions in these post comments to go back to what's now the "old version".

(sorry for off-topic post, but this probably affected everyone in this community)

For me, it definitely wasn't. YMMV

Those are in the 'old' interface, too. At least, I'm seeing them now, and I've switched back.

The "new" interface doesn't seem to have a 'Friends' listing, so you can't see the first bit / pre-cut version of all your friends' posts. But they make it really easy to see the "community" posts, of some random community of people you don't give a hoot about that doesn't make at all sense to you (kind of like presenting everyone with the same random page, then claiming that since everyone sees it, it's a popular page).

I believe the friends page is called 'Feed' in the new interface's menu. (I can't check to be sure, because I switched back to the old one already)

LJ seems to be trying to turn itself into some sort of news feed system. Dunno why. Presumably it's the Stupid Business Plan of the Month at LJ headquarterrs.

I'm getting a morganatic mix of new and old styles now depending on where I click and when. I cannot find the icon to restore the old version. I tried "keep S1" which showed up on my page to make a new post, and I got a message telling me it is "no longer supported" which is web-ese for "buy our new product or f*** off."

I guess I will adjust somehow. The new "interface" is ugly and off-putting. Whatev.
