Have you ever listened to Warren Zevon's rendition of Knocking on Heaven's Door or his song, Mutineer? I heard/listened to his performances on The David Letterman Show along with Paul Shaffer and a few others from the band (there might be clips on YouTube, but I could be mistaken...)
