"Probably ... not too close to where the fire's going. Or too close to the water."
He hauled along his own keg, grunting a little with the effort. The damn things were heavy, but he didn't want to use if Caleb wasn't going to. "Maybe near the edge of the grass? Set them in the sand and kind of brace them that way?" he offered.
Then they could put the table with the cups and the snacks next to it. And the tub for the ice and the sodas.
Parties were a lot of work. He had a new appreciation for the people who'd set up the ones at the Dells.
Caleb nodded and lugged the keg over to the aforementioned spot.
“Guess this is more work than we bargained for,” he joked once he’d gotten it in place.
But then if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself. He half-wished that Tyler and Reid were there so they could make those two do some of it. Not that Reid could be trusted to do any of it on his own steam, but still. Four sets of hands would have been better than the two they were working with.
“So you invited everyone, right?” he ventured.
He vaguely remembered seeing something in the journals, but he couldn’t recall. And besides, Pogue could have taken the time to invite some people personally that he didn’t know about. Which led to vague thoughts of what else Pogue might have been doing, but he really wasn’t snoopy enough to ask about it unless the other witch gave him something baiting to work with.
"I posted a thing in the journals," he admitted. "Got at least one response to it, but I dunno about anyone else." He shrugged as he settled his keg
( ... )
“So an intimate get together,” he ventured and then laughed; he was pretty sure if Pogue had his way the only thing ‘intimate’ about it would be the after-party.
He thought he was about up for a real party; the Christmas get together had been fun, but not really his affair. If this was anything like the parties at the Dells - and he had a suspicion it might be - it should be pretty good.
“Who responded?” he asked, vaguely snoopy.
"Rose, someone," he said. "Asked if it was ..." he grinned. "A fancy dress affair." That still kind of gave him a wtf moment - unless she'd been kidding, but that hadn't carried if she had.
"Keggers on the beach always imply ballgowns to me," Pogue shared as he hauled a pair of the folding tables over. "But she never replied back. Or I didn't see if she did," he continued.
He tried to imagine someone in formal attire standing on the beach pumping beer from a keg ... and failed.
"Well, hopefully we'll have a good turn out," he ventured as he continued to help set up.
Angua strolled down to the beach, fully aware that she was likely early. As a general rule, she preferred to be early rather than late and she'd had little to do in her room.
"Evening," she offered as she strolled up, "You boys need any help?"
Her hands were stuffed into the pockets of her jeans for the time being, but if they needed assistance, she was more than happy to dole some out
Liberty was unsure about this whole mess. It sounded highly suspect, though she didn't think even Chase had been capable of this sort of magic.
But then, the sort of things she'd smelled across the hall ... she wasn't sure that he wasn't capable of just that.
She knew he was here. She'd passed by his room. Caleb, too. She'd seen that it was Pogue's party - or his idea - and she was moderately relieved to have some people she knew here.
Even if she didn't know them well. She knew them. She was slightly perplexed that there was no Ashley in Chase's room - the door had said Pepper. Why would that be?
Standing down the beach, Liberty gazed down toward the party. She saw three familiar silhouettes, but for the moment, she simply remained still, observing.
Barney strolled up to the party, bit late but it was fashionably so. He spotted Surprise there, he thought, as well as a few others. But he couldn't really be sure - he'd met a bunch of people lately, and some of them had been in the wrong bodies, and it seemed like every time he met a new person, three more got summoned and really? He just wanted to get laid.
But Surprise was here. Did that mean that he had to play it nice and be the nice boyfriend... and WOAH he did NOT just think that! He was no one's boyfriend.
While he figured it out, he decided to hang back for a bit, and he noticed that he wasn't the only one, spotting someone who appeared to be Cameron or River (or Penny?) standing off to the side. He figured he might as well go say something.
"Hey kid," he said, taking a chance that it might be River. "Did you find your sun all right?"
If it was Cameron, so what? She was a robot. She couldn't take offence. River might go psycho on him.
Libby turned to fix her mismatched gaze on the newcomer. Nostrils flared as she took in his scent before she hunched her shoulders a little, stalking a single step toward him. "My wha'?" she inquired. Teeth briefly bared, though it wasn't personal; she was still acclimating.
Who was he, and why was he asking about her non-existent offspring?
"Your... um... Kyle?" he said, trying to remember who Cameron was with. "Jake? I don't know, I can't keep you two straight," he admitted finally with a frown. "A little help maybe? You Cameron or River?"
He wondered if he was going to get hurt for that. He rather hoped not.
"Or Penny?" he asked with a small grin. "Sorry. You all look alike. Can't keep you straight."
