9th Life - We caught a ride back to Naboo [video]

Sep 15, 2011 03:33

[So you might not expect this...or you might just, if you’re familiar enough with the Doctor, but only a week after his last broadcast the Doctor appears onscreen once more. For once, he’s not alone, he’s sitting next to a cheery blonde...and equally as cheery.]

Hello!

[The blonde gives a wave, and beams at the camera from her place beside him.] ( Read more... )

[Ignoring the rest for now]

- You've been to Tatooine?

[Oh!] Hello! No, but I've read the brochure.

I live there. ...Used to live there. Will... again? Anyway, I'm from the future there, I guess. Never been to Mos Eisely, though.

The rest of it's boring.

Live there natively? [He smiles.] Well...I wouldn't say it's entirely boring, from the things I've heard.

What about the quarantine grounding us?

...Well...quarantines are really strong guidelines.

As someone who knows what it's like to fly through those strong guidelines, I wouldn't suggest it. [A short pause.] The sick come back still sick after they die.

The good news is, that bloke just popped on and they've got the cure. The bad news is, we've still got the ship rented until Tuesday.

Post-plague Celebration Not-Death Holiday Party, anyone?

[Lily looks like she's been up all night] The planet is still in quarantine, Doctor. If you try flying out, they will shoot you down. And as I understand, one of your companions recently returned to life - the dead are still sick after this happens, and in a few days they mutate into monsters. Even if you did escape the quarantine, you run the risk of infecting an entire planet that is currently safe. Are you mad?

[Rose pops in, giving a cheery little wave.] Been a slight change in the plan, then. Did you see- apparently we've got the cure, so, no worries there. No monster-companion Rose. Well... unless you see me in the mornings.

To answer your question, though, yeah, he's... completely insanely mad. But we've still got a ship, and it's rented until Tuesday. If everyone gets a lovely dose of the cure by then, it's going from 'Escape Certain Death' to 'Five Day Holiday'.

[He actually looks surprised and speechless until Rose pops up and speaks again. After that he's back to the fond smiles.]

Well I wouldn't call it insanely mad...

I wish I could be there, Doctor.

... I'm glad your friend came back in one piece.

[He beams] And why wouldn't you?

I'm pretty sure my dad would lock me in a tower before he ever let me get on a ship to another planet. So you'll just have to take a lot of pictures for me, so it can be like I was there.

[That smile is...probably conspiratorial.] I could...or you could come with anyway.

Looks like enough people already beat me to that big, fun, quarantine warning.

[Look at him completely ignore their entire previous conversation.] Well...like Rose said. We've got the ship, but we're not actually leaving until the quarantine's lifted. [Probably. Don't hold him to that if it takes a really, really long time to life.] Dodging blaster fire might not be conducive to 'relaxing holiday' for...everyone. [For him? Probably would be, actually.]

Your decision-making's not really something I'm putting a lot of faith in right now. So sue me. [ This is a look that says she hasn't forgotten it. ] Just as long as you stay grounded until everyone's healed up.

[Well. He's stubbornly ignoring it. Because denial makes everything better.] No one sick is going on holiday. Why would they want to, when the can get the cure?
