I have owned three bikes - first a Suzuki 250 and then a Yamaha RD-350, both twin cylinder two-stroke oil-burners, and the Yamaha a real "rice-rocket"; but when the Yamaha finally died at 60,000 miles of a siezed piston and scored cylinder, on my way back from Ft Irwin towards Baldy Mesa - my granddad had to drive out to Barstow in his old pickup truck to rescue me - I was compelled to buy, in short order, a barely-used BMW R-60/5 (I needed a replacement bike quickly, and a machinist friend, who preferred either Harleys or BMWs, knew of a fireman in financial distress, so I got a good bargain

PS - do they still have the pneumatically-deployed center-stand on those models, with the built-in compressor and tire-filling hose, with digital pressure readout? Not on the stock models... but it's got just about everything else
