Since the rains stopped, I’ve been working outside every day, trying to catch up with the weeds on 3 different jobs- and sometimes in my own garden. I’ve got a lot of plants to put in the ground before it freezes hard, and it’s slow going because I have to weed a spot for each one. We’re also trying to paint the one rental mobile home and that’s a ( Read more... )

That is too bad about the firewood but at least you don't have to chop it.
If he asked if you are 60 you must not look it. I think of you as early 50s at the oldest.

It is very chilly here and I am dismayed to see predictions of another one of THOSE winters for us. Ugh.

I think you look far younger than 60...

It does sound like the ribs put you behind. :( I'd also like to tell you that your age isn't an issue but the fact is that it's probably a contributor to you not being able to work the way you used to. That fact has been brought home to me in the last few years. :( I hope you find the energy and strength to do everything you need to do.

I'll be 60 in January; at least I can apply early for my CPP, which, combined with (this year's, anyway) my pension payout, that's a possible $800/mo. for the next year, at least, for doing nothing.

Too bad about the rib. :(

Hooray for being able to do that! Did you manage to get into a place where there are no crack heads etc? Where you and Persimmon are safe?

No, still in the SOD*, though the only crackhead is the daffy street person our resident truck driver keeps bringing in to use as a (*sorry*) recreational semen ashtray. However, the fellow across the hall is a half-assed scammer who tried stealing my identity when he got a hold of my signature & another housemate found 3 GIF scans of my signature (mis-spelled, fortunately) on his laptop (on which I had yet to lay a finger, so they weren't left there by myself). Another housemate had lent him her cell phone and later, kept getting angry calls from one of this guys' victims, figuring she as in on it as the phone number was in her name.

As to relocating, Vancouver and the lower mainland is an expensive place to live so one would definitely need almost double the existing minimum wage to keep a decent place (on your own) & actually save some money - unless you can get into the shared housing situation I had from '07 - '10.
