Pheremone control was a useful ability. When he first got it, Sylar thought it would be nothing but fun. Mostly he used it to get attention from strangers who would then flatter him, only to be rejected by Sylar's sarcasm.

Never thought I'd agree with Sylar about much of anything, and I'm seasons behind on Heroes canon, but I have to agree about Mohinder's monologues. (He could probably have trained Mohinder out of it, since the right pheromones go pretty directly to the pleasure center, but I guess that would be too much work.)
