In other news, I am not watching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho anymore (it failed to capture my interest and I dropped it after ep 4 - if neither of the main characters is mature and/or competent, I can't deal) but the fandom consternation that it will have an unhappy ending is

I suspect the reason they expect the unhappy ending is because gumiho stories almost always end in blood and tears and everybody dies? Though this series sounds more like they just wanted a supernatural "scary" girlfriend thanthat they wanted a "modern" gumiho story.

I'm trying to think how it could end happily. It's kind of that Harry Potter thing happening right now, you know, only one can live, the other must die.

The only thing I can think of is a last minute change or if Hunter decides to sacrifice himself, but even then I don't know how that work. I'm enjoying reading the speculations.

Heh, too bad you're not watching it, I completely adore it. But I can see how it's not your type of drama. I actually had a bit of a problem with Mi Ho's (SMA) character at first, but she definitely proved herself to be a stronger female character than I thought.

Speculation and spoilers through ep 12: I'm wondering if maybe certain rules don't apply to Mi-Ho because she was made from a previous gumiho's fire. Because technically, hasn't she already died?

The first part makes sense, but I'm confused by the second part. Did she ever actually die? I thought she was just confined into the painting. I have my own theory but I don't know how to put stuff in spoiler tags so I'll just post it on my LJ, lol.

I don't know - I don't even have something I can critisize with this, I just got bored. I gave it 4 eps and am really reluctant to do more unless all my flist swoons for it.

it's supposed to have an unhappy ending? I downloaded the first ep yesterday and was planning on trying it, but if that's the case I'm going to run as fast as possible in the other direction

Suprisingly, it's getting really good now. It started off slow but after episode 10ish, it really got interesting!

Yes, but the thought of wading through 10 eps! I could do it for a really long drama with a ff button but for a 16 ep drama seems a waste. I don't even find LSG attractive so :(

No matter how many times I see LSG I don't see anything attractice about him- unlike someone like Oh Man Suk for example.

I was planning on picking it up and braving the potentially painful first few episodes (I've never been one for the Hong Sisters' slapstick comedy), but all the spoilers are talking about a potential tragic ending, so I think I'll avoid it afterall. Last thing I want is to get to the end of the drama and get smacked in the face with tragedy, and you can't even wallbang a drama like you can a book.

From what I can gather from spoilers, it seems the fox bead that Mi Ho gave Dae Woong means that either she receives it back from him and lives (but he dies) or she doesn't take it from him and he lives (but she dies)? Something like that, anyway. But it wouldn't surprise me, because what most people seem to have forgotten is that initial reports from the Hong Sisters is that this drama will be darker/sadder than their previous ones. Assuming they don't chicken out and change the ending as reports say they might, this COULD end up sad afterall.

Tbh, I was so boooooored by the first 4 eps I gave up and never went back.
