Hmm, so. I don't know what Charlie was up to here. Was she really there to see Ringo? And ran into Paul? Or was it Paul that she intended to see all along? She was certainly convincing when she said so, but then, she's apparently a master liar. LOL. I would hope that she was really coming to see Ringo - seeming as it was him she'd been thinking about, and she must be aware that she'd left him no means to contact her easily, and they did have a tentative date in place for that night

Well, I do want to try and give some added insight into George's situation with Annette. I did wrap up their story in 'Dearest' too quickly and I want to try and fix that. But, I don't want it to take over Ringo and Charlie's story

What's all the fuss about the Beatles and more importantly him? Apparently nothing if he can't keep the bird he's interested in interested in him.
I think that's perhaps true for all the Beatles in the current moment. Ringo is snubbed and rejected because he thinks Charlie's not interested in him. Paul was already snubbed and rejected, because he feels Charlie chose Ringo over him. (I mean, John's one thing, but Ringo?! Come on! LOL Only joking, Ringo!) John's got his own crap going on, but he's also snubbed and rejected because he's John and he always seems to be feeling that way about something - but as well, because Charlie's clearly not interested in him in that way anymore. And George, my poor Georgie, he couldn't care less about Charlie (LOL) but he's snubbed and rejected by Annette in the worst way possible.
What's the use of being a Beatle if you can't get the girl you like? Ha ha.
Let us not forget, that even though these guys can't seem to get the girls they want. They've got girls of their own. Well, everyone except for George because at this point in Beatles history he has yet to meet one Miss Patricia Anne Boyd.
Don't dismiss John so easily in regards to Charlie's feelings. I've hinted at her still dealing with fighting against whatever she felt for John. You pointed out in your previous comment that she probably does a good bit of lying to herself.
Well Charlie certainly is a crafty little thing, she really is. What she wants, she's gonna get come hell or highwater. I think it's great to see a bit of confidence in herself here. She's working against some pretty high odds that she'll get in to see her intended target but she's going to go after it. I like that side of Charlie. I like the vulnerable side of her but I like the determined side of her

You never did answer my question. Do you think Wanda is a lesbian?
What can I say except : being an English major is hard to turn off sometimes, LOL. In a word though, yes. Using what I've gathered as context clues, she's got an interesting take on men. She may just be a fiercely independent type, true. But she doesn't express any attraction toward any man.Even in passing. Nor jealousy toward her friends that have male attention. And she's got a wary attitude toward the Beatle-boys. Do I think she's a hardline 6 on Kinsey Scale (exclusively homosexual)? No.I think she's 4.85 or so heading toward a 5. Sometimes you just get a gut feeling about a character and that's my read on Wanda these past few stories. Just my own personal little head-canon.
I LOVE that that's your head canon for her. I never considered her to be a lesbian or even bi-sexual. But, hey, you bring up some excellent points about why it wouldn't be so far fetched if it were revealed that she was indeed a lesbian. I suppose anything is possible. Might explain her soft spot for Charlie. Unrequited feelings for a girl that she knows will never love her in the way she wants. Could further explain her fixation with Charlie's romantic entanglements.
Charlie shows some of her 'street' skills in this one, very nice.
I'm most taken with her need for Paul to hear her song. It says alot about both she and Paul. That she feels confident enough to seek him out for his opinion is huge. There is a level of trust she affords him that she has given few other people, and that is really something to behold. This wouldn't be possible without some very genuine sincerity coming from him. Enough sincerity that even emotionally stunted Charlie has been able to pick up on.
Sometimes relationships aren't what they seem at first, and this is a prime example.
Charlie's had to grow up fast. And, relies on her charm and outright lies/street skills if you will to navigate through some of life's more difficult situation.
Her writing session with Paul in London and his continued support of her during that time left a lasting and positive impression on her. So, the first person she wants to see and seeks out is Paul. She does hold his opinion in high regard and thinks he's a great writer. Although, she has trouble admitting that to herself, let alone telling Paul that. It's obviously true though or she wouldn't go through the trouble to seek him out. You're right. It couldn't happen without genuine sincerity on her part. She truly does want to share this with him.
And, you're right. Sometimes relationships aren't what they seem at first. This could be the beginning of something quite interesting between the two of them. But, not necessarily romantic.
