Scotch & Spies

If spies drink, as they do quite often in most espionage / spy genre films, what do they drink?  I'm not entirely sure, but I thought I'd do a little bit of research and see if I could find out.  The results of my totally non-scientific-and-less-than-thorough research is summarized below:

Have you seen Barney's Version? Or read the book? It's not obviously not a spy movie/novel, but he drinks scotch throughout the movie. And in the opening scene you can see clearly he's drinking Macallan 12 year. Pretty neat to recognize details like that!

I remember reading the book for one of my high school English classes (must have been Grade 12, which was Canadian Lit), but that was so long ago that the details are either fuzzy, or have been deliberately blocked from my mind. Don't get me wrong, Canadian literature can be very good at times, but it takes a "special" sort of teacher to make a class so painfully boring that you either don't want to, or can't, remember what you did in it. I'll have to check out the movie at some point in the future, and maybe re-read the book.
