PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU INTEND TO HAVE YOUR CHARACTER EARN PINS.
Thanks to the awesome help we received from Aison (
eternity_dreams), Kaze (
murasaki_kaze), Maia (
continuum) and Sun (
sunsingergirl), we've refined the pin system for future Nightshifts! Some of the guidelines have changed, so please read this over again even if you looked at it at the end of NS 54.
If your character has completed the criteria needed to earn the following pins:
1. Monster kill, Lower Grade: A patient must participate in the killing of at least three of the institute's weaker creatures.
2. Monster kill, Intermediate Grade: A patient must participate in the killing of at least two of the institute's stronger creatures.
3. Monster kill, Advanced Grade: A patient must participate in killing one of the institute's strongest creatures.
4. Fulfilling a mission objective announced by the military during Nighshift. (More information on this when the time comes.)
…you MUST comment to this post in order to receive approval for them to obtain their pin.
This system may undergo some changes in the future, but for now these are the guidelines for submitting a pin request:
• If you're wanting your character to have an opportunity to earn a monster pin, you MUST tell an NPC mod beforehand. The NPC request template will have a section that asks whether you'd like your character to try for a pin. All NPC mods know the criteria for each pin and will decide what monsters to throw at you based on the information you give them.
• A player hoping to get a pin for their character MUST submit a comment to this post. It should be each player's responsibility to explain what their character has done to earn a pin. Please don't designate one spokesperson in your group to submit a pin approval request for everyone.
• As a general rule, your threads shouldn't involve more than 2-3 patients. The difficulty level for each pin was designed with this number in mind, and it may become harder to explain what your character has done to earn a pin if they're within a large group.
• Battles or missions needed to earn a pin must be completed before submitting your request. They won't be accepted otherwise.
• If the thread in question turns into a backthread, please refrain from posting your request until the criteria to earn a pin is met.
• After you've received approval, your character can get their brand new pin! If you get approval 1) during nighshift OR 2) before you've posted your character to breakfast, your character may wake up that morning with their pin automatically attached to their beret. If you receive approval during dayshift, you may NPC a soldier approaching your character and placing the pin on their beret. (Please remember that how the soldier treats your character while doing this will largely depend on your character's rank!)
Ready to submit a pin request? Please use the following template:
SUBJECT LINE: Pin Request

Brief summary of how the pin was earned: If your character was working with other patients, be sure to specifically talk about his/her role in killing monsters or fulfilling missons.

If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please leave a comment marked QUESTION in the subject line in order to differentiate it from actual pin requests, and so other players reading may easily see the answers for their own reference.
Thank you!
