Nightshift 39: West Wing, South Hall 2-B

Mar 07, 2009 13:37

[From here]Celes came to a stop at the firmly locked door at the end of the hall. The general examined the door and put her hand on it, testing the knob. Hm, perhaps not so firmly locked as she thought. It would attract attention if she kicked it, but she did have her hairpins, after all. Pulling one from her hair, and hoping that Locke's little ( Read more... )

Pushing her new 'cart' along, Celes wondered if she should've looked inside one of the refrigerated doors to see if Noah had somehow made it there, instead. The thought was sobering, and she looked back over her shoulder once, pausing at the end of the hallway. Dare she go back?

No.

To look would be infinitely more horrifying, if he was there. Certainly, the Hound would've chastised her for being even slightly sentimental for their short time together. Besides, Celes wasn't sure she could bear that burden at the moment, and kept walking.

The adjacent hallway appeared totally empty, which only served to heighten Javert's suspicions. Keeping his saber at the ready, he continued to sweep the area with his flashlight.

[OOC: Sorry, got confused with the directions of the above thread ^^;;]Javert and Edgeworth's lights would have to suffice, for now...the power of his own lantern snuffed out, Kunzite angrily tossed his useless flashlight into his makeshift bag, following closely alongside his companions ( ... )

Starscream reached the end of the hallway and once more started to peruse his map; these primitive human brains were woefully inefficient at retrieving the data stored within their memory banks. He quickly found his bearings, noting his destination - the chemical storage room - and realized that a few doors still remained between the two areas.

"Let's see," he muttered, "South Hall 2-...ah, this one, and then the decontamination room and storage areas." Starscream pocketed the map and pushed on the door instinctively; it opened without complaint, but then again, Starscream had no reason to believe it wouldn't.

Lockdown kept close to Starscream, but not too close. When the former jet stopped and looked at a piece of paper with a hand-drawn map on it, Lockdown stood beside him and looked at it as well. The map was not the most well-drawn thing in the universe, but it did give Lockdown some idea of how many rooms this floor had.

When Starscream opened the door and went inside the room, Lockdown followed him. "What exactly is in this room?" He asked.

"If we're lucky," Starscream started, "we'll find the three ingredients needed to create gunpowder. At the very least, I hope to find charcoal and sulfur; potassium nitrate has, how shall I say, some unpleasant sources that I'd rather not investigate unless absolutely necessary."

He moved on into the next hallway, Lockdown in tow.

He was nearly there and breathing fast from sprinting the whole way up. The screams, the blood, he ignored it all, hurrying through the darkness. When he reached the door that led to the rooms beyond, it'd already been opened. Was he too late? Yuuhi pushed it open and ran inside.
