Nightshift 34: M51-M60 Hallway

Aug 14, 2008 19:12

The doors had unlocked, and Albel the Wicked didn't waste any time with moving out into the hallway. It was still early, so no one was around just yet. Not that the warrior was going to complain about that ( Read more... )

There was a good chance that Naruto and Jiraiya might want to see him come nightfall, and Sai himself wanted to meet with Naruto again. He still had the boy's file, unread, sitting in his dresser.

He pulled it out now, stared at the cover for a few moments, then returned it without even opening it. Perhaps he would look at it another time.

He was ready to leave, having prepared before his roommate left. Before he met with anybody else, he wanted to check in with Usopp. There was a notebook in his dresser that he rarely used. He pulled it out now, writing out a quick note and tearing the page out before placing the notebook back. He set it in the middle of his bed before leaving:

At my friend's.

- Sai

If they were paying attention over lunch, they should know where to find him.

Jiraiya turned the handle and entered the room.

The first thing he noticed was that it looked like his room. The second thing he noticed was that it was empty. Sai wasn't there. He cursed under his breath before turning to Naruto as he entered.

"He's not here," Jiraiya stated, glancing around the room--and then his eyes caught on the note on the bed. "He left a note?"

"What?!" Naruto's eyes opened slightly and he pushed himself into the room, seeing Jiraiya was right. Sai wasn't here.

This made things a little more difficult. Now they wouldn't really have any idea where to go, or what to do...The note caught his attention just as Jiraiya mentioned it, and he frowned slightly. "Maybe it says where he is, then?"

Jiraiya showed remarkable restraint by not rolling his eyes at his student at his obvious statement, although he quickly walked over to it and turned on the flashlight to read the note.

"It says that he's at his friend's," Jiraiya stated after a moment, glancing up to Naruto and trying to not look too terribly annoyed. "He's probably all the way back in M33, then, if that's the friend he mentioned earlier."

So they had to go all the way back.

Kaito took his pair of wrapped syringes, as had become his habit, along with his flashlight and the pipe he'd gotten a few nights ago in preparation for the night. He'd almost forgotten to grab his radio, but remembered when the intercom came to life and the doors unlocked. His effects safely tucked away in his coat pockets, Kaito headed out of the room.

He needed to get to the restrooms in the M-C block... That was the block Hattori was in. Remembering the way, Kaito headed down the hallways.

Dinner had turned out uneventful, and Sasuke, lacking any concrete plans for the night, grabbed his sword and headed out the door with only a vague idea of what to do. After a day of time for him to cool down, he had to admit that Sai was right about at least one thing; there was no way Sasuke could find Itachi by simply stumbling blindly along.

Last time had been lucky.

He'd have to cobble his established alliances into something more workable with Itachi in the Institute tomorrow. For tonight, then, he'd cover as much new territory as he could. He'd missed too much by this point.
