The promised intercom address never came. The military really wasn't obligated to tell them, the lab rats, anything anyway, so it wasn't like he was surprised. It made sense for them to be making use of that power, plus it left all of the delicious, gory details up to their poor, overworked imaginations. Edward could not quite recall where and when he had fallen asleep, and awakening back in his room was more than a little unnerving. He had grown accustomed to the flash of unconsciousness that was the passage of time from night into day, but these moments where he would simply fall asleep when the sun was still in the sky? No, he would never get used to those. They weren't supposed to happen, and having a human sleep forced upon him was uncomfortable, to say the least.

Luckily, no sort of personal injury had come to him, and as long as he wasn't stuck in Doyleton with hordes of the undead, he couldn't very much complain. His shoulder was feeling a lot less painful, though Edward did not shift the sling more than just enough to sneak a peek at the injury itself. Still bruised heavily, and the bone was still pressing against his skin. He hadn't expected much, so that was probably for the best.

Damnh. Whatever had happened, he hadn't spoken to Bella what their plans for the night were. The lights had already been shut off, and she wasn ( ... )
