There was a silence.

This was what they'd all been waiting for.

Nash felt a low, seething rage as the group pored over the files. He'd suspected it, but now he knew for sure. There was a group that knew they was bringing them here with the specific intent of turning them into those monsters.

He still couldn't guess why. Wouldn't it be so much easier to simply keep them caged and force the venom on everybody. They were still missing something.

He had another sinking feeling as they looked through the subject files. If the others looked too closely, he suspected, there would be something interesting in the N folder. It was his own fault, though.

He didn't say a word. He didn't want to be the first to speak.

This

was

unacceptable.

It was a very good thing that Fawful did not have his microphone turned on, or else the room would have been filled with the sounds of furious, fury-based screaming full of fury coming from the speaker of a robot hidden in the vents.

Right in front of him was the picture of himself, unconscious. They had kidnapped him, done experiments on his body, without consent or... and not only this! No! Not only did they go through all of that... they hadn't even bothered to identify his superior species!

And that was not all! No, through all that, through all he'd been through... they listed him with no abilities! No notes! Not one mention! He had tricked CFP, the American rivals! He had bombed the park, and the monster with it! And he had shot down the copter!

Not. One. Mention. He screamed his throat raw at the screen, then screamed some more. This would not stand. This was not to be tolerated. This ( ... )

...so Manhattan was a breeding ground for the creatures. And looking through the files, all of the known healers were marked for 'termination'. A low, continuous growl started up deep in Kang's chest, and his tail lashed, "This should go without saying. No one leaks this information onto the network. They may know we have the briefcase, but they don't know we've gained access to the files on the harddrive. Anything they don't know is an advantage for us. We need copies made, as well."

Nash nodded to Kang in agreement. "We'll need to let others know, in person or by two-way radio -- if that's considered a secure form of communication." Messages could be left on the network, he suspected, but only very vague ones, and no hint could be made at all that they had this information.

He was already formulating the code in his mind.

The F's... Fletcher was there. When his file was opened, he was angry for another reason. That was his son, photographed unconscious. It made him want to tear somebody's throat out.

Toph had read Peter's post and had decided to come check out what all the fuss as about. She entered the room and could immediately tell this was something huge. There was a hanging feeling of dread in the air that made the hair on her arms stand up.

She ignored it though, going up to the closest person she could find, "Hey, what's going on, I heard something big was going down."

Sorry Toph, Pixie's too short to reach the floor. :3 soulswordpixie August 11 2009, 06:10:38 UTC
A puff of smoke happened behind Toph as another summoned by Peter's journal appeared for this little event. Pixie was wearing her not-armor superhero outfit. ALthough she did have the gauntlets on again. If Spider-Man thought it was important, show up properly decked out. However... Pixie wasn't alone on her travels this time. She had a dragon with her.

Pixie fluttered around before she noticed she had company with her. "Oh shoot, I forgot Kitten was with me!" Pixie chided herself, bringing cute baby dragons to superhero things was totally not the right thing to do, "Well... it doesn't seem to dangerous, what's up Pete?"

Skysong let out a quiet little whistle when she felt something magical about to happen, but not soon enough for the girl to hear. As they arrived, Pixie glowed with light for just a moment, the aftereffect of the dragon's voice ( ... )

Billy had still been resting when he'd seen Peter's journal post, but this looked important. He'd been planning to leave Bryant Park Hotel today anyway, but he figured saying goodbye to Rosa could wait for later. A few murmured words later and he was materializing at Peter's side with a flash of blue light and that look in his eyes that said that he was mostly concerned about what horrible new developments were afoot - but also kind of excited. Just a bit.

He spoke almost immediately, a little out of breath. "What is it - what's up?"

Riza arrived a little later than most but it was clear from the tension in the room and the troubled looks on everyone's faces that something big had happened. She looked for Peter but didn't see him right away due to the crowd.

The sniper was focused though and moved through the group towards one of the computers, "What's going on? Megan left me a note about the Healer's being in trouble.

Lelouch decided to go a bit incognito for this particular excursion. Once again, Team Science was in an uproar, and he couldn't count on someone being loose-lipped enough to let it spill on the network. Yet, he still had to know what was going on. He pulled on a baseball cap, and a pair of glasses. He dressed a bit more plainly than he tended to, as well.

He came in, and saw people hovering around the computers. He made his way through to look over someone's shoulder. They were looking through a myriad of profiles, complete with pictures of those present prone on an examining table. While at that point, someone was looking at a profile of someone with a name nowhere near his own, he needed to see what the file showed about himself. Not the least of which is which name they had used.

He glanced over to Hawkeye. "I'm not sure. It would appear that someone has brought together a lot of information about us. The healers are probably included."

Riza moved her eyes away from the computer, the files were disturbing and she had a feeling her own name and the name of everyone she knew was there. She glanced over at the boy, he looked familiar in a vague sort of way, but there was no one she was going to remember his name any time soon. "Yes, and by the looks of it the files are very detailed...probably from when we first arrived," she looked over the computer user's shoulder again, the user was in the S section ( ... )

When Fletcher had dragged Russel to the computer to see Nash's message, he'd stared for a long time. He'd figured the man had been hiding, but something big had to have happened for him to stick his neck out like this. He immediately grabbed his notebook, and threw it into the shoulder bag he usually took with him when he went out just in case they found something useful. The last thing he grabbed was the steel pipe he usually took with him for self-defense. He didn't say anything to Fletcher about his intentions. He knew his brother would be right on the same page.

He went straight to the Team Science headquarters, such as it was. He didn't go often, but he did when the need arose. He did have that errand to do for Luis, though. He could do that while he was there.

As soon as he entered, he scanned the crowed for his father. He knew he'd be towering over most of the others there, the tall old bastard.

Fletcher tagged along behind Russel, walking quickly to keep up with his long legs. He kept a wary eye out as they made their way there, mind reeling from all of this.

Their father was here. He was still in Manhattan. He was alive. But why had he hidden for so long? Was he in trouble? And why was he just now revealing himself? He came to the same conclusion as Russel, that something big had happened.

An old colleague from work... Something had reminded him of his old work, is all Fletcher could gather from that. But he didn't know a lot about what had gone on in the fifth laboratory in Central. So he couldn't figure out anything further than that. It was the second paragraph that had made the boy's blood run cold. He'd noticed others using "birds" as a code for the Healers. That post of his father's had gone one step further, encrypted it even more, if his assumption was correct. But if it was...

...will surely die. He tried to think of why that would be, or if it was another piece of code, but it couldn't be. He knew Nash Tringham ( ... )

Even amongst the crowd and talking, Nash noticed the two boys come in. He stepped back from the computer, leaving more room for others to crowd around. He'd seen enough for now; he could view the rest later.

It was about time, anyway. This time, he wouldn't run if they approached him. But telling them everything would be pointless. Sooner or later, somebody in this room was going to have to make an announcement, just to get everybody on the same page.

Russel spotted him, and went straight to him. "We got your note. What's going on?" He wasn't particularly interested in why he hid, he was used to him not being around at this point. It had been enough when he'd left that small token in the days previous to Fletcher's birthday. He wanted to know what was going on there and now.

Bill had been checking in at Team Science Headquarters when he found out about the files. It was all intensely creepy, with files on literally every single person who had ever ended up here, even those who had disappeared without a trace. At least they knew for certain that people were being drawn here deliberately. Something would have to be done to keep the healers safe too.

As he continued to look through the files, his attention was drawn to a folder labeled DSN_A_TEST_REPORT, a huge DNA sequence with accompanying amino acid translation. "For use in creating Stage 3 subjects in Project Daisychain," the report read. So, it was the crab's virus.

"A completely artificially engineered virus?" Bill said out loud with horrified awe, to no one in particular. "That's some intense technology," he added, muttering, still looking over every page of the code, as if some secret would jump out at him from the jumble of T, C, G, and A's.

"I'll say," MacGyver muttered grimly, looking over the files. There was data on so many people...and how'd they get that photo of him? All he could say was that this was damning evidence. Whatever speculations they had could be put to rest. This wasn't a social experiment.

It was a weapons development program.

"Bill, I'll tell you something. I always thought that nuclear weapons were the worst people were going to come up with. Always thought that there'd be some wall of human decency stopping us, like poisoning the earth and blowing it up was the worst we'd allow ourselves to do. I guess in terms of scale, this'd be a step down, but...well, yeah. They're weaponizing people without their consent, and that black box is a remote control like we figured."

On top of that, there was the dim ache in the back of his mind that was asking about exactly how this DFT whatever they had worked, but that wasn't important at the moment ( ... )

"Who says all the people behind this are human?" Growling, Kang walked over to the two men, tail still lashing behind him. "I know, I know, your worlds, there aren't other races; but, they're pulling people from other... dimensions. Hell, for all I know, there could be a god involved."

...huh, now that was interesting. Pointing at the computer screen with a claw, "Take a look at the subjects listed as 'DRT Malfunction (Lost).' Everyone listed as such are people that have gone missing. And... there's a few listed as 'Present (Reclaimed).' That's got to mean something."

Zidane was one of them. Something about that name got the bozak thinking.

"...if I remember right, this Zidane went missing, and came back recently, saying he'd gone home." He went into the S folder, bringing up Slith's file.

It listed him as "Present."

Well, shit. That hope was dashed.

"I'm with you, Mac. I don't say it much, but this sucks," Bill said with a grimace. "This is some really ugly stuff, though I think I get the strategic appeal here. Develop the ability to make huge enemies from the citizens of whatever country you want rid of and unleash it, then feign ignorance," Bill speculated, grimly. "Still doesn't explain why they're dragging in people with all these weird powers from other worlds. Seems like overdoing it, somehow ( ... )
