Pearl didn't really know what was going on. She hadn't talked to Mystic Maya about the details of this place and on one hand she wasn't really sure she wanted to know any of them. So she'd let that one rest, not giving in to her curiosity over the overwhelming fear she now felt.

Leaving a note for Mystic Maya on her bed saying that she was going up a couple floors with Bolt, Pearl headed off, looking only slightly less worried than she'd started.

She was glad she had Bolt with her or she knew she'd have gone absolutely crazy. This place was much too scary to be alone. Finding Fletcher's door with relative ease, Pearl knocked, offering a nervous look when a boy answered. "Are you Fletcher?" she asked, hoping she'd gotten the right number.

Bolt had heard a little on the network...something about Mia, Godot and the Tringhams speaking to one another...but he wasn't entirely sure what was going on, either. However, dogs had that intuitive sense of something Being Just Plain Wrong, and it was hitting him hard in the gut right now.

The only thing that was helping him ignore that bad gut feeling right now was following Pearl around. Doing so, he had some sense of purpose. He could protect someone who couldn't protect themselves, even without any powers. Maybe this was the closest thing to being a "normal" dog.

So he trotted up the stairs with her, still somewhat glad that they weren't going all the way outside, and waited while she knocked on the door. Bolt recognized the young blond boy quickly enough, and his tail wagged. "Hi, Fletcher!"

Fletcher smiled when he saw Bolt -- it had been a while, and the dog's wagging tail helped set him at ease. (He'd always liked dogs.) He opened the door the rest of the way. "H-hi," he said. Oops, stammering was bad. "Yeah, I'm Fletcher... Hi Bolt, and you must be Pearl, right?"

Lucky for Fletcher, Pearl didn’t take much notice of the stammering. She was used to that sort of thing anyway and it didn’t have any special meaning to her, so she ignored it, opting to smile slightly at the boy. Bolt seemed to like him, so that made Pearl a bit more comfortable around him. She was really glad she’d brought the dog along with her, really glad that he’d agreed to come live with her in the first place.

She nodded in response to Fletcher’s question. “I’m Pearl. Is this where you live?”

Granted, it was an unnecessary question, but Pearl wasn’t exactly the best in social situations.
