Garnet took a step back to admire their work. True, in the beginning, she hadn't known where to start, or what qualified for Christmas Decorations; she didn't let that get her down! Now, after hours of work, their project was complete. The former queen smiled broadly at the final results, rather surprised at what they had managed to pull together is this city. It did all rather remind her of the winter solstice festivities back home.
Home. Garnet was still coping with the idea that she would never see it, or most of her friends, ever again. It was even harder now, considering this holiday seemed to completely revolve around friends and family. She had a few friend sin this city already, and she hoped, tonight she would make some more. Come hell or high water, she would try to make the best of being here.
Leaning against one of the walls, Garnet looked up into the rafters. Pulling her coat tightly around herself, she smiled, and let out a small sigh.
Sara had heard of the Christmas party that was going on in the cathedral, and even just coming out of her funk, she decided she should go. There wasn't any good reason she should miss it, even if she ran into anyone she really didn't want to see.
Walking into the church, she looked around at all the decorations, a smile on her face. It was amazing to see. The people who lived there had taken so much time to decorate the place, she was incredibly glad she had decided to go to the party.
It was a nice change, being able to blend into the backdrop of things. Normally at large gatherings, she had to worry about being noticed, and even sought out by dozens of people. Parties, in her past, had been part play, and part business. this time, she had finished her work before the fun had even started. It was quite liberating, and she was doubly proud of the finished results. So, when she noticed the woman smiling at the decorations, she couldn't help but approach.
"Admiring the decorations?" Garnet asked softly, her hands clasped behind her back.
"Hmm?" Sara said, turning to look behind her, where the other woman had walked up. "Oh yes, I am. I haven't seen anything like this since some of the decorations in the hotels on the strip." When she fully turned to look at the person standing behind her, she was a bit surprised.
It was Garnet. She hadn't expected to see her so soon. But, she should have figured, with how things seemed to operate with her and her luck.

It wasn't until about halfway through the party that there was a loud knock at the door. It echoed through the hall, and then, the doors were pushed open...
There stood Santa Claus. A very blond, very young Santa Claus, hefting a large red sack and lightly dusted in snow. He seemed to stop and look around hesitantly. A brief expression of apprehension before he put on his brightest grin.
"Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas! Happy holidays!"
He made his way down the center of the hall and seated himself in the large chair near the tree, tossing his bag off to the side. Dusting the powder from his shoulders he leaned back and surveyed the party, giving a nod of approval and settling in to hear everyone's holiday wishes.
While he'd been reluctant before, he had to admit, having everyone so happy to see him was a change for James. He didn't mind this gig too much. It was... Sort of a once-in-a-lifetime chance. And from the way things looked in this city, he wasn't sure they'd really make it to another Christmas.

It didn't seem that "Santa" had gotten many visitors yet. He'd have plenty later as the party got going, Kaylee knew, so she'd better get her Santa-wishes in now.
Wide grin on her face, the mechanic walked over to where James was sitting and slid nicely into his lap.
James nearly panicked when the first person he saw march right up to him happened to be Kaylee.
And then she was in his lap. And it was only slightly less awkward than he had expected. He's been expecting more children than anything but it was kind of a pleasant surprise that even the adults were taking part in this silly tradition.
He put on his best Santa voice.
"Ho Ho! Well if it isn't Kaylee! What a little angel you've been this year. What is your Christmas wish?"
A lonely wheelchair creaked down one of the hallways from within the cathedral, but no sign of the boy who would otherwise be occupying it.
If the “Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!” and the “Happy holidays!” was any indicator, Rion Steiner hadn’t hesitated to beat a post-haste retreat. Injured legs or no, he had gotten fast in that mechanical chair of his.
Unfortunately, such little things hardly mattered when it came to a successful escape. Each place he went, he heard the menacing faux-jolly laughter of the fat man he had been introduced to as The Claws. With The Claws hot on his trail, nowhere he went seemed to be safe, as every encounter had been more cunning and daunting than the last.
But, according to Birdman, tonight was the night. The day of reckoning.
The Eve of Christmas.Even while cramped up in the pantry, he still wasn’t convinced of the certainty of his safety. Certain that Lilia was safe from The Claws’ wrath of punishment, he remained unseen. Hidden even as the voices of anyone from the outside were passing by

Garnet was used to being a good hostess, so it just seemed natural to make sure things back in the kitchen were as clean as they could be. She wanted to be the most help she could be. It did, however, come as quite a surprise to her, to hear a small yelp come from... inside the pantry?
Cocking her head curiously to the side, Garnet approached the pantry door, pulled it open, and peered inside. What she saw startled her; startled, that is, in the sense that she had not expected to find a teenage boy curled up inside.
The sudden flood of cold air on his skin when the pantry door slipped open struck Rion with unexpected alarm. So much that the muffled yell that bit down on his hand turned into a louder outcry.
To him this was no game. This was a matter of his life. If Birdman had been so concerned about The Claws that he had divulged so much to him over the network...
Of course, the prospect that Birdman had been toying with the tall tale of The Claws in the first place should have occurred to him as well. At this point at time, unfortunately, Rion was not exactly a force to be reasoned with.
One thing he was certain of, however, and that was someone was bearing over him. Someone taller. Slowly, he turned his head up at the towering figure. Eyeless.
Rion was not the only one startled. Garnet jumped back, letting out an undignified Squeak, and then clapping her hands over her mouth. Really, she shouldn't stare, but he had no... no...
"Oh, oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!" she tried. For a fuller effect, she closed the door, though she knew the boy couldn't see it anyway.
The only time Link had ever been to an actual party was back in Hyrule, and he was the guest of honor. He never felt comfortable being center of attention, so it was difficult to enjoy it.
Maybe just being a guest to a party would be more enjoyable.
After Link found a place to hang his coat, he ventured out into the main part of the cathedral, not knowing what to do first, he just admired the decorations for a while.
Naminé had never seen such pretty decorations. In fact the whole structure was very, very beautiful, in a way that reminded her of the Beast's Castle as she'd seen it in pictures, or a world called Notre Dame where the hunchback lived. After entering the cathedral, she simply stood looking up for at least a minute or two, forgetting for the moment that she'd come to thank the not-so-fat Santa for answering her Christmas Wish.
When she finally looked down again, she noticed a young blond boy standing near her, looking as admiring as she felt, and waved to him tentatively.
Black Star was doing other things while he made a pair of special gifts. Included in this was modifying a set of shurikens. It was hard to do, the release had to be simple, yet delicate. He managed to get them to dangle the Mistletoe no matter how the Shuriken lodges in the wall.
Now, Black Star had not asked for permission, but that wasn't the style of a Star as bright as he was!
So from the other side of the room he tossed the small star blade at the wall above Namine. Causing the mistletoe to hang right over her head. Before he moved onto his next target(s).
Not quite sure why he had come to such a place, Jeeves let his gaze climb the big cathedral. Little unsure if he was being incredibly rude he let himself inside. It was a cathedral after all, should be open to everyone.
What Jeeves saw inside was not quitet what he thought he'd see, a warm Christmas feeling filling the whole room, decorations, candles and warm colours. He assumed this was a party.
Suddenly Jeeves had the urge to be part of this, he could serve or something, he just had to get a feeling of... being in a normal place. A normal routine. A habit.
Letting his gaze wander around the big hall, hoping to find a responsible he could talk to.

Santa Claus gig. It was a bit exhausting after a while, so James had briefly changed back into his normal attire before setting out to enjoy some of the festivities. Mainly the food.
He turned just in time to see...

Sunderland gave a soft shrug and a bit of a grin.
"No need for that 'Sunderland' business. You're starting to sound like someone I know," Loop me in, Odd one. Peaches.
"Ahh, yeah, you have the rest of my room mates to thank and well... Gosh a lot of people helped out with this. Not bad, huh?" He stood, hands on his hips, peering around at the decor.

That jacket.
It was a disgrace.
Still he gave this man a pleasant smile, that meaning the corner of his mouth lifting slightly and giving James a nod.
"Good day, Mr. Sunderland. Indeed it has been awhile."
Jeeves was quiet for a mere second and added:
"It's a pleasant surprise, that people are willing to arrange such a gratifying festive occasions. It's most impressive."
