Orange Line Team: Columbus Circle Station inthephonebook December 30 2008, 04:02:51 UTC
Harry went through a mental checklist as he stood at the stairs down to the subway station, staring down at darkness that lurked below like a serpent waiting to swallow him whole. He didn't know what was down there, but he could imagine all sorts of interesting possibilities. The fact that most of them involved a rather excessive amount of claws and fangs was probably a bad sign. Oh well, no use wondering, he'd find out soon enough.

He made sure for the twentieth time that his gun was loaded and read, and that he had plenty of ammo. He gripped his hockey stick in his other hand, and the weight of a potion rested in his enchanted duster's pocket. He also had several supplies stashed in his backpack, and the stone Toph had given him for his birthday on a chain around his neck. He'd say he was ready for anything, but he knew from experience the Universe would take that as a personal challenge. This would be dangerous enough, no use pushing his luck.

Now all that was left was to wait for his teammates to arrive.

Celes had forgotten the moment she'd volunteered for this, but she figured that if people were going to go down into the subways and risk their lives for whatever it was going on down there, then she may as well go help them. It would at least give her something to do for a while and a reason to keep going with her training.

So she'd made sure her two blades were in top condition and all of her energy was ready to be used should she need to cast anything. It wasn't long before she reached the entrance she'd been assigned to and she glanced at the man standing there.

"Time for duty, is it?" she asked rhetorically, sizing up the person with her.

((OOC: If I lapse into lazyness and not typing Pikanese, Bolt is the only one that understands him.))

"Chuuu... pikapi (Soooo... here!)," Pika sprinted towards the meeting point. He had his bag and cloak on, inside his bag was his PDA and a small bag of cereal he found earlier (well, what was left). He had no weapons with him, he didn't need them. Even if he felt the need for weapons, he was not built to use any found on the island. No items to increase his own ability, no berries to heal his status in a pinch.

He wandered up to the two cautiously, neither smelled lupine. This was good, he didn't need to fight off food hungry wolves again. He walked up to the subway entrance next to the wall, leaning against it as he waited. he piped up in his little squeaky voice with a question, "Pikaaa piiichuukaaaachupi (Do either of you understand me)?" Now if anyone answered him at all would be answer itself.

Riza sighed, slipping the last of her ammo into one of the many pouches of her vest she was wearing. She was carrying as many guns as she could and a knife in case those should fail her. Basically she was loaded to the teeth and she still felt ill-prepared.

She wasn't going to let that stop her from joining her team at the rendezvous point and she eased up next to Harry, her face grim and serious...ready for business. Riza glanced at those assembled already...the small yellow thing was strange but she supposed if it was here it must be of use. "Everyone ready...as they can be, anyway?"

Re: Team Laharl: Grand Central Station megane_mode December 30 2008, 07:40:45 UTC
Mao didn't like it when things were quiet. In fact, there were plenty of things he disliked about this trip. First, groups weren't usually his thing, unless they were his servants. Second, being under "Team Laharl" made him shudder quietly, that's just low! Think of his pride, he's older than this brat of a demon, no matter how powerful he was, it was almost a disgrace!

It's not like he could complain now.
Well, he could but something told him that Laharl's vassals wouldn't take it too well. He wasn't stupid either, causing strife would only put them in a worse spot. If he really wanted to, he could just turn around right now and go back home ( ... )

Mao had been right about one thing: Flonne would not have appreciated any complaining. She'd gone out the night before with Laharl and Etna to find weaponry, and they'd found her a bow and a quiver of arrows in a sporting goods store. They were unfamiliar and Flonne wasn't too sure she liked the metal string on the bow, but they were useable (as more than an hour of practice and a mangled target had shown). The arrows, along with her familiar baseball bat, were slung on her back, and she was holding the bow just in case.

There were crabs down here. There were lots of crabs down here, and her magic didn't work like it should. She'd been getting better, sure, but it still wasn't enough for a prolonged battle and she knew it.

To put it mildly, Flonne was nervous.

She jumped at Mao's sudden words, hands gripping the bow tightly. "Mao-san!" she admonished quietly, her nerves showing through her voice. "Quit it!" Now was not the time to pick a fight.

((I did some research into the Terminal/Station. Check that certain post that I edited with some links and images o/))To say Laharl was really rather ready to just get on with it was an understatement. He hadn't expected this place to be so, well, huge. The terminal was a very large building, far fancier than anything he'd expected. Following signs to the subway, he'd led the group down through the terminal down escalators finally into the actual subway station. The ceiling was annoyingly low here, with wide round columns that were covered in a metal that caught the flickering light and one could just vaguely make out the compass mosaic on the floor ( ... )

For once in her life, Rosette wasn't late. She'd somehow managed to get to her station ahead of everyone else (save Negi, as she'd dragged him along with her - she hadn't even known he'd been on the Intrepid and he'd nearly drowned. Like hell was she letting anything happen to him this time around). She had both guns on her, along with more ammunition than she normally carried. Hopefully it would be enough.

She looked up as people started to arrive - finally - then turned to Negi. "You ready?"

Croix arrived at the meeting place rather nonchalantly, there was no reason to hurry after all, they were still on time. Prier was following him closely behind, staying true to her word of coming along. He wasn’t worried, after all Prier knew what she was getting into. And anyway, right now, he almost felt sorry for any crabs that would come across her. It would be like old times it seemed.

He just stood to the side, smoking as he always did before going out of these things. The timing of that mission was almost perfect, he had just finally got himself a pair of guns and enough ammo to last a couple of months. All there was left to do was wait for the rest of the members to come. Two of them were already there it seemed, and one of them looked quite impatient for that matter.

Negi had his make shift staff of course, he'd done some of the exercises Ku Fei had taught him earlier this morning to prepare before Rosette dragged him off saying it was time to go. He was only a little nervous but was trying not to show it because he wanted to prove himself to Rosette and the others. He was a mage and more importantly he wanted to be a magister...which meant helping people. Even though he wasn't in his world anymore he felt it was his duty to still live up to the ideals of that tradition.

"I'm ready," he replied with a smile before seeing someone approaching them, "Hello, you must be the other member of our team." He wished he could have learned more about his teams abilities but there had been very little time for that...at least he knew Rosette's style...and it looked like the man had firearms as well.

Garnet wasn't entirely sure how she'd gotten into this situation, or furthermore, what exactly it entailed beyond exploring the tunnels that suddenly ran underneath the city. From what she'd gathered, they were very questionable places to be venturing into, but if Zidane was going, so was she. After all, she'd seen enough trouble in her day, and she was an experienced white mage. She could help, if things went sour.

"Is this the right place?" she asked, possibly to Zidane, or perhaps to no one in particular.

"I think it is." Silver had been here with Blaze a few minutes before anyone else had arrived and had spent it exploring the station. Above ground looked safe enough; it was the tunnels of which he was wary, and rightfully so. He was, to put it simply, none too fond of the crabs (but you couldn't really expect anybody to like something that consistently tried to eat them).

"Are you here to explore the tunnels too?" he inquired.

Loz approached the scene with his hands in the pockets of the coat-that-actually-fit, completely failing to look any smaller despite the slouched posture. He hadn't actually volunteered so much as been nosing about in the area and remembered that people were going to go into the tunnels; he figured that nobody'd turn down the help, and smashing crab-things was always a good way to blow off steam.

Everyone he saw was smaller than he was, though. He hoped that there weren't a lot of crab-things. Otherwise he'd be dragging corpses out ( ... )

This team thing was something new to Aya. Sure, she had gone out on investigations with the assistance of others, and she had never been one to decline the offer of another’s aid. But no matter how much time had past, she was never much of a team player. In the past she had ventured into places no one else could go. She had seen others around her die while she remained unscathed. Almost immune to death, it was almost safe to say that she had developed a slight hint of a careless self-destructive complex ( ... )

Tsubaki arrived shortly after, dressed simply in jeans and a warm jacket. She didn't carry much on her, seeing how she was pretty sure Black★Star would be wielding her for most of their adventure down in the subways.

Still, she held onto a a few usable imitation weapons she found in what was left of a Martial Arts Store on Mott Street while walking here.

It wasn't hard to notice the only other person here, and Tsubaki nodded politely, stationing herself near the entrance before turning to face her partner. "Don't forget we're waiting for other people Black★Star." She warned, pretty sure that he was ready to dive right downstairs.

The young assassin walked up with Tsubaki, wearing his usual battle garb with a long black coat over top it. He did have a knife holstered on his back under the coat. Granted, he was pretty sure he wouldn't need it, Tsubaki was there. The only concern was Tsubaki was having issues transforming, like Soul was. So a back-up plan was... insisted by Maka.

Black★Star tried to rush straight into the subways. However his weapon thwarted this strategy. Okay, strategy wasn't the right word, plan... no, dumb idea! Yeah, Maka would say that a headstrong lone run into enemy territory is dumb. "But the others can catch up! Yeah, yeah, we can be advanced scouts! My guiding light will lead all the little ones to our location! ★"
