Why can't I just get my head into this?

I'm trying to RIAW (rewrite-in-a-week) because I need SOMETHING to motivate me into finishing this darn book. And still, I've written about 1/2 a page and keep coming back to LJ, or getting up to get a snack, or do laundry, or whatever ( Read more... )

I saw Narnia yesterday and I was pretty happy with it, too. Neither of my parents read the books, though, so when Aslan was strapped down to the table Mum's going "But she's just standing there with the BOW AND ARROWS!" Heheh, I'm all... "but... Mum... he *has* to die!" ;)

There was a kid next to me who was around 4 years old and it made me wonder if I had kids if I'd let them see it that young. I don't think so because some of the scenes were pretty scary or too violent in my opinion for little kids.

Heh! Yeah, Aslan does tell them to stay hidden. In the book it's made much clearer that Lucy and Susan are in a great deal of danger being so close to the Witch and her cohorts. I didn't get that sense from the movie: they seemed pretty far away from things.

I actually haven't seen any other versions. It's not so much that I don't like Mr. Tumnus...more that I just thought there was a great deal of him. He's not imprisoned with Edmund in the book, for instance, so that whole scene struck me as a bit gratiuitous.

Anyway, it's a minor quibble. :)

I've tried banning LJ. I'm weak I tell you, WEAK!

But I think I can do this...I just have to get Savonie through the Hocks and write the big scene where Harod comes to "rescue" her.

Eeep.

Call me bestial, but I thought Tumnus & Lucy had a vibe. Something about innocence and this saturnine sexuality....

...hopefully that doesn't squick you more.

I agree with you about showing it to kids, though. I was a pretty impressionable kid, and some of my nightmares are still influenced by things I saw when I was little.

Yeah, that's what I sensed too. It just seemed, I don't know, like there was too much eye-emoting between them.

Anyhoo...no need to delve any further into that!
