Friday -- It's a Friday during Lent, so naturally I wanted to go out for a fish fry. Just for grins, I googled "fish fry Fredonia" to see what would come up. I then googled "fish fry Fredonia NY" to eliminate those wonderful sounding restaurants in Wisconsin. :) Interestly, one place did come up that I wanted to check out. I really love the place I work.  They set up a 5K Turkey Trot on the property for patients and employees only; no entry fee, two hours admin time to run the race, free lunch afterward and a free sweatshirt to everyone who participated.  It the first time this year I've participated in a 5K.  I'm pathetically out of shape.  I ran the ( Read more... )

Friday -- We have to clock in at 8AM.  The company picnic started at noon. Half the staff was at the bingo hall decorating.  The other half didn't feel like working.  My job is to compile database reports based on requests. Friday -- It's supposed to be the big 'company wide' picnic at Darien Lake.  However, a ticket for your spouse is $30, for each kid $15.  How many people would want to go to Darien Lake with fellow employees and not their significant other?  Since a number of spouses couldn't get a day off from THEIR job, attendance was smaller than expected.  ( Read more... )

Saturday -- Up relatively early.  A friend invited us to participate in Hands Across the Sand project because "Joining hands is a powerful way to say NO to offshore drilling and YES to clean energy!"  I'm not sure it's a powerful way to do anything at all except get sand in your shoes.  I agree with the cause, I just don't think this affects ( Read more... )

Saturday we drove down to Panaman (just shy of the PA border) to pick up our annual meat order from the butcher. Normally,
we pick it up at the farmer's, but on the weekend that was originally scheduled for that, we went to Pax Interruptus to see a close friend of ours get inducted into the Order of the Laurel.  It was a pleasant ride thru beautiful ( Read more... )

Saturday:  Ran the usual weekend errands.  We were supposed to go to Buffalo to help a friend move some furniture, but they got hit by the windstorms and lost power, so it was put off for another week.  ( Read more... )

Friday -- I had the day off for Veteran's Day.  Took my car to the shop to have the mechanic fix the heater.  There's a noise when you run it.  The mechanic removed a dead mouse.  I now have a working heater again. :)  We spent most of it decorating the rental hall for the UU fundraiser on Saturday.  The theme was the Tales of the Arabian Nights.  ( Read more... )
