It sure is better to be here right now than in Italy, where some kind of Anti-Romanian craze is running wild. There have been a series of crimes perpetrated by Romanians which have given the press and the authorities in Italy cause to build major cases against Romania, the Romanians and their permanence in Italy and the EU. Oh dear, how terrible. :-( I hope it all blows over. I hate it when that sort of thing happens; there's bound to be a minority in any sufficiently large group that causes trouble, and it's not nice when the rest of the group gets tarred with the same brush.

ha - I wanted to make a post about the same thing. They accuse Romanians as a nation, because calling the criminals 'rroma gypsies' would be discrimination. It's a really nasty situation. it reflects badly on all hard working honest Romanians (which are a majority). on the other hand, I rememeber years ago when some Romanian and Hungarian ehtnics in some villages couldn't take the theft and violence from the gypsies anymore and burned a few houses (no victims) the whole Europe shouted 'race crime' at us. And we're still paying damages to those 'poor' gypsies. Now that they're free to travel, they're all over Europe. Deal with the problem now!

This makes me so cross. The people who commit the crimes are individuals. You may as well say that all people with the same colour eyes as the criminals are therefore guilty by association as pick on something as arbitrary as their country of origin. Wah!

Hate spawns hate. Right now, a lot of Romanians in Italy would gladly kill every Rrom they can lay their hands on.
