Open A Window....Let The Sunshine In....And Give You Cancer

Okay...just so that it's on the record.  Social networking on the internet is either the best thing to happen in the evolution of human interaction or the worst thing.  I mean, on the plus side, you're speaking to people that you otherwise would never know existed who have a broad range of viewpoints.  On the down side...how much interaction can ( Read more... )

I like...people watching, too. I mean, it's just easier to sit back and...observe, you know, rather than actually...interacting.

And hey. Interacting on the internet is totally less of a pain than in regular life. I basically hate most people when I have to deal with them in person. There's just so many douchebags out there. It's...better to not have to deal with them in person.

There are just as many douchebags on the internet as off of it. If anything, it seems that the anonymity of the internet emboldens some of them. Need an example? Check out any web forum.

Oh, I know! People are...assholes. I read the shit some people say about me and my band. It's depressing.

But then you read the news a couple of days later, and some other fan has brutally beaten them to death. That's awesome.

Ah, I thought your icon looked kind of familiar.

Yes, musically inspired violence is all the rage it seems...

You can learn a surprising amount from the way someone writes. More so than from how they dress, anyway.

That seems about as accurate as astrology or reading the bumps on someone's head.

It takes a lot more than just looking at someone's outfit to tell something about them. You can put any neanderthal in a suit, but if his collar's unbuttoned or he keeps checking to insure his sleeves aren't showing past his jacket you can tell more about them.

That's generally what I was saying, yes. Though I have to admit that I have a stronger appreciation for someone with some sort of classically rooted consistent style.

Ah. My handwriting's better than average, but that's more because of my Mom rather than anything I got from public schooling.

That's nice. I'm surrounded by people with high drinking tolerances. They're called frat boys.

Well, aren't you ein little ball of sunshine? Cynicism at your age...Das ist gut on ein level. Watching people ist ein fine way to culture yourself; nothing wrong with that. I'm surprised, though; it's hard to find anyone your age with ein sharp wit.

I am Doktor Avondale Napier, but do call me Dok.

Oh yeah, I'm the belle of the ball...

Are you a medical doctor or do you have a doctorate in another field?

You...could say I'm ein medical doktor. I usually combine science with der dark arts, but if necessary, I could perform various types of surgery.

The "dark arts"? I'm assuming you're not talking about tattoos, right?

I'd have to argue that bathrooms are probably more useful than the internet.

Depends on the situation. I doubt the person on the other end of that phone number etched into the wall can give me useful information for a research paper.

Well not unless they put, "Research Paper Help, Call Here!"

I was thinking more of the practical reasons. You go to the bathroom mostly for one reason and you usually accomplish it once you get there. The internet doesn't seem to work that way.

Yeah...the internet is like Wal-mart for most people. They don't care where it comes from, so long as it's quick, cheap, and convenient.
