Damn it, I keep sitting down to do the budget and the menu/shopping list for the week (WHICH HAS TO BE DONE TONIGHT) and getting side tracked by the prompt-a-thon. Then thinking I should really work on the Pacific Rim AU, only to see my green folder AND REMEMBER THE BUDGET ( Read more... )

life, clint/natasha, food, fanfiction, updates done badly, pacific rim, guardians of the galaxy, health

I'd be interested in food and cooking! And, yeeeeeeeeeeeeep, I'm on the diabetic-friendly thing, too. (Also low FODMAPs, because bodies, man. Mine sucks.) And I should do more than I'm doing, so, yep, interested :D

I love Peter Quill and his music. And that it's his mum's music, and he's carried it around with him and fixed that cassette for 26 years. Just. Oh, Peter.

Oooo, excellent!

I don't know much about FODMAPs though, but so far my blood sugar is doing better with my cutting out grains and starchy vegetables (almost) entirely and mostly sticking with non-starchy veg, fruits (which seem to do fine, especially pineapple and berries) , and meat and richer dairy. I've cut way back on milk, but kept things like cheeses, butter, and cream.

Right now I'm exploring the bizarre world of grain-free baking. I'm having decent results so far with almond flour and coconut flour. (And going through a ton of vanilla extract and cinnamon.)

I realized today that I really, really have to take my Dad to see Gaurdians. We normally go see the Marvel movies together, anyway, but Dad always made me mix tapes when I was little, and all Peter's references and things are making me seriously nostalgic.

FODMAPs are the bane of my existence, and I don't follow them nearly as well as I should, but if I don't follow at all, helloooooooo cramps and other unpleasantness. Unfortunately, this makes balancing things against my pre-diabetes tricky because a lot of diabetic-friendly things set me off. Soooo, it's great. If I have too much bread, it's really not great - but so far I can have a piece of toast in the morning if I don't go overboard anywhere else. But it tends to get a bit overwhelming, so sigh.

No ONIONS, Koren. Or garlic. Garlic I can have the tiniest bit of a teaspoon in a big dish VERY VERY RARELY, but onions are gone. Out. Never. And they are in eeeeverything *headdesks*

Oooooooh, yes, you totally should :D

Chiming in to say that a Pacific Rim AU would be awesome. I'm not really into that type of cooking (I still eat like I'm working out four hours a day- whoops!). Congrats on getting your angst fic written! I have so many WIPs, but nothing done. :)

Thank you! Most of it was written back in April, but it's just been sitting there waiting for the right inspiration to finish it. Originally the music behind it was Vienna Teng's "Drought" but after listening through "Like Real People Do" a few times I discovered it worked so much better and helped me fill in the gaps ( ... )

I hope this doesn't double post (I'm in land of Ye Olden slow internet).

I will read a Pacific Rim AU any time it's released :)

And I'm sorry your body is being a jerk, and wish you the best of luck with cooking/ food stuff.
