Curtains - and other stuff.

I took the big curtains from the front window to the dry cleaners on Thursday. I went to pick them up this morning only to realise they are working short hours and I was almost an hour too early. As I had pole position for parking I sat in the car and read ( Read more... )

It takes encounters like this to realize how many businesses became endangered because of the dratted virus, right?

That lavender is lovely. Do you use it for something, like sewing it into small bags to keep the moths out of the wardrobe, or is it purely decoration?

Right. I hadn't even thought about how much less trade there would be for the cleaners even when they reopened.

I do gather the lavender to make lavender bags - and I usually put some into the cupboard where I keep the bath towels, too.

There are so many unexpected knock on effects of all of this. I hadn't thought of dry cleaners having less work but I can see why they don't. Our small Boots, where we get our prescriptions from, is closing because apart from prescriptions from our surgery it relies on office workers for custom and they aren't there any longer. There is another one we can go to easily so it isn't a big problem but it's just one more reason not to go into the town centre.

Lovely lavender.

Fortunately for the shops that supply many of our office workers, they are mainly back at work now - but it hadn't occurred to me that even though they are back, clothes that need dry cleaning are suddenly no longer the norm.

The lavender is doing well this year.

I'm sure the dry cleaners was very happy to see you.

How clever to plant pollinators near your garden!

The lady in the shop said that at least they are fortunate because the business owns the building so they don't have to pay rent...

To be honest I would have planted lavender anyway, because I do love it - but near the beans and pepper plants seemed like a good idea :)

It's amazing how many layers are affected by the virus.

Yes - this is one I thought might be quite busy as soon as they reopened - it hadn't occurred to me that much of their business might come from other businesses that were not fully functional.
