Today I am bringing you not a picture, but a short video. Manx National Heritage have been making short 'Museum on the Move' videos as part of their resources for children who were being schooled at home. This shows Katie, the Education Officer (who is a friend of my daughter) at Meayll Hill (Anglicised on the old metal sign as Mull Hill ( Read more... )

It seems to be there for One Raido and Wiseheart. Here is the direct link to the MNH website - https://manxnationalheritage.im/museum-on-the-move-meayll-hill/ Can you see it there?

thank you for this link!!!
the other one wouldn't let me in
i love it!!!
the music and art at the beginning are cute and perky
the girls - especially Katie are charming and bright and, of course, knowledgeable

i didn't know you had a ritual circle
this link was very informative
archeology is my passion

in my ceramics class we had to start by making a coil bowl
it was years ago but i still have mine

i really enjoyed this thank you!

I am glad the direct link worked for you - if I post another of them I will post the direct link straight away as it seems a bit random as to who the embedded version works for and who it doesn't.

The girls are lovely, aren't they - you can see they love their work.

We don't just have one Neolithic circle - there is also Cashtal yn Ard - and another 2 or 3 Neolithic grave sites, like King Orry's Grave - which has nothing at all to do with King Orry!

They are doing a series of them - usually they go and visit schools, or take groups from the schools to the sites - but this is actually a really good way of telling local history.

It is lovely. Unfortunately, I didn't understand everything (spoken English is still a mystery for me), but I think I got the gist of it; and the little clay pot is so cute!

It was mostly about burial rites and the pottery that had been found there compared to other pottery found on the island from the same period, the Neolithic. But it is a very nice view :)

This is lovely and I can see how well it would work to teach children (and adults because I learned a good bit!).
Katie is a natural filming things like this...I love her enthusiasm!

The whole series so far is a delight - she is one of those people who is perfect for their job - and so very happy to be doing it.
