Remus woke when it happened. He had been trying to catch some sleep before the moon came up, and he had managed. But he sat up with a jolt as it began, his mouth opening in a cry as he tensed in

Sirius had been in the other room, working on the Wolfsbane potion and examining others in Moste Potente Potions. When he heard the cries, he hurried to unlock the door and crack it open before transfiguring into Padfoot.

It was still terrifying, even after years of being present every month. Perhaps because now he was alone. James wasn't there to help him, to calm him. He barked once, then whined gently, letting Remus know he was there.

The werewolf that was Remus tore at his own clothing with vicious teeth, anger and pain flashing in those blue eyes. He gasped, shaking a bit before the transformation finally finished, leaving the werewolf panting.
He looked up at Sirius, before tilting his head back and howling loudly.

Sirius approached, still in dog form, and sat by Remus' side, nudging him gently with his muzzle. He made sure to keep himself between the door and his lover, knowing that Remus' instinct would be to go out and hunt. He couldn't let that happen. While this place was full of odd magic, he couldn't be certain that someone bitten would remain human.

The werewolf growled, raising itself up on two legs to Howl again, his eyes human like Remus, screaming, but the body did not respond to the helpless eyes. He jerked a bit, then growled again, baring teeth this time at Sirius, pushing at him to get to the door.
