"He sounds like a very good man," Eddie smiled, similarly unsure the context of her tale at the initiation of its telling. It seemed far off base for the moment at hand, as touching as beautiful as it was. "We'd like to get you back to him if we can." He told her for what it was worth once she had finished the story

"There were pheromones in the air and aphrodisiacs in the food and drink," he explained. "Harley told us. We made a point of not sampling the refreshments at that point. It was a strange experience." Eddie shook his head, the symbiote easing back into clothing again. She seemed done with her immediate interest in it.
"Oh, that explains, well, everything," she muttered. "Still, it's kind of unfair, and a bit tricky." She was thinking back to what had happened with the purple man. She did not appreciate being tricked into something she didn't actually want to do thanks to pheromones and spiked drinks.
"Agreed. We would have had words with the host but we never saw him and we were a bit... distracted by all the nakedness." Eddie looked embarassed. Clearing his throat he crossed the floor, glancing about the room. "As little as we want to discuss the issue, what are we to do of this Lou Martin thing? You should tell your friend Jack to think twice about forming a lynch mob," he said with gentle honesty. There was no threat, no subversion.
"Because if Lou Martin is what passes for dangerous here, it will end badly and people will die. And we don't want that." Was that too honest? Probably not. Better safe than sorry.
"Jack won't be forming any lynch mobs," Martha answered firmly. "It's not his style and I won't let him." She sighed a bit though. "Regarding Lou... I really don't know. Jack fights dangerous things for a living... yet he believes Lou is not dangerous." She thought carefully. "What if the five of us: You, me, Jack, Lou, and Dree were to get together in a neutral place... like somewhere with food and discuss it. You and Jack wouldn't let anything hurt me, I know that, and we can try and figure out what the hell happened? Because right now, I believe what your telling me, and Jack is going to believe whatever Lou tells him. Dree was in the middle of it all, and it's just one big mess."
She hoped this would be a satisfactory answer. One more thing popped into her head.
Eddie nodded, slowly. It was the apprehensive nod of a rat eying food that had been previously electrified. They had seen this sort of trap before. All's an even share huddle up and chat bullshit that typically resolved itself in sonic blasters and flamethrowers. He agreed, but there was an obvious wariness there. "We suppose that might work. But you won't let them spring a trap for us, will you?" he asked, and it was obvious his doubt wasn't in her as much as in her ability to expect such a trap ever to exist.
"As for the Witch on a scale from 1 to 10, she likes to set things on fire. A lot. She also threw the glass at us that cut up my arm. I think the biggest concern is that she doesn't seem very stable. We've fought a lot of strange and interesting enemies but she's one of the wildest. Her weakness is her monkeys. She seem's attached."
"No one will be springing any traps. If people do think they are going to spring any traps, they're going to have to deal with me," she said with an edge to her tone that said I walked the Earth alone for a year escaping death. Don't mess with me though maybe not in so many words.
She noted his question about the Witch. She didn't like being the one to make decisions about life or death. "Let me put it this way... I won't be upset if you kill her." The Doctor would not be proud, but it did sound like the woman was unstable and attacking whomever. "I also plan to start carrying a bottle of water with me whenever I leave."
((I guess it's a good thing the Witch is currently learning how to lay low and is also attempting to forge an alliance with Billy...))
"Thank you," was all he said about the trap thing. It was all that needed saying. Martha was a hard woman beneath that friendly exterior. They respected her very much.
"That's a great idea!" he beamed. "We hadn't thought of that but yes, we'll be very much prepared for her the next time should she decide to try us again.
We assume you'll organize this meeting with your friend Jack? What should we get up to in the meantime?" In that instance he meant himself with we. "We would go explore but we don't want to run into Lou Martin or others who's been fooled by his lies. Things could get ugly."
She chuckled a bit at his reaction to the water plan. "Glad you like that idea."
When he asked her what to do next, she sighed. "I don't really know what you should do in the meantime. What do you like to do? I have a feeling this is the type of place in which one needs to find a hobby."
"We're sort of workaholics, to be honest. We don't have much in the way of hobbies. I suppose we'll explore and hope for the best." He shrugged. "What's your plan?"
Eddie laughed heartily. "Then why did we sleep in the hallway anyway? It beats the sewer, so as far as we're concerned it was a step up. But really there are a whole lot of rooms in this place..." It had seemed sensible at the time but looking back on it, any door could have offered a bed.
"I'm not sure if we'd know how to sleep in a bed. Its been a while." He sounded excited, really.
She laughed with him. "I have no idea. I didn't trust the rooms I guess. Didn't know if there was a system or not. Now I know thanks to Basil. He showed me around. Showed me where the kitchen was, more information about the phones, and we searched for rooms. There's something you could do with your time! Find a room with a bed!"

"How worried should we be about the Witch?"

Eddie paused.
"She's ineffably evil right? We can kill her?"

And apparently they meant right then because Eddie moved towards the door, turning to nod her way. "If you need us, Martha. Call us!"
