Though to be honest, I liked the movie a lot more, because I didn't think the book was paced very well. There was plenty of gore for the sake of gore, and Bateman was truly frightening, but it didn't always feel like a single, chronological narrative.
And Christian Bale is sex in two sneakers. <3
It's that kind of "there's no reason - he's just evil" background that I was hoping they would give to Hannibal Lecter, because he's always been brought up as the epitome of villainy. "There is no name for what he is" is the description that follows him through every movie. Now that we HAVE a reason and a description for why he does what he does, he's just not fun anymore, let alone
