So I went to see Hannibal Rising tonight. I'd just watched Silence of the Lambs a few nights ago, and I have to say, I found the idea of a young, smoking-hot Lecter very appealing. Love that dimple, baby. What's not to love about a cannibal, anyway

Actually, yes I have! Hannibal Lecter may out-infamous Patrick Bateman in popular culture, but nothing Hannibal has ever done even comes CLOSE to the psychoticness of staple-gunning a woman to the floor and then cutting off her breasts. Oh, and tearing out clits with your teeth. And running around naked with a chainsaw. God that book was fucked up XD.

Though to be honest, I liked the movie a lot more, because I didn't think the book was paced very well. There was plenty of gore for the sake of gore, and Bateman was truly frightening, but it didn't always feel like a single, chronological narrative.

And Christian Bale is sex in two sneakers. <3

It's that kind of "there's no reason - he's just evil" background that I was hoping they would give to Hannibal Lecter, because he's always been brought up as the epitome of villainy. "There is no name for what he is" is the description that follows him through every movie.
