She crushes a small bird, one of those sparrows or some such thing, beneath her new shoes to hear it shriek. Birds so seldom scream in pain. Her tummy feels warm. Today is her tenth birthday.

Hi, I'm new. *waves sheepishly*

I started writing this thinking it would be a great novel someday, then I changed my style and it turned into something...unexpected. I cut it short because it has nowhere to go at the moment.
