Sharing Blame (Glee, 1/1)

Summary: The fight in Theatricality ends a little differently.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Seen the latest episode? You're good.
A/N: Finn definitely should NOT have said what he did, and deserved to be called out on it, but I don't think Kurt is entirely blameless in the situation either. Just wanted to explore that a little. The first line is ( Read more... )

You're so right, there needed to be some kind of real resolution to this, including Kurt admitting that Finn had a valid right to feel uncomfortable sharing a room with him. However:

"I told him I wasn't interested, but he won't take no for an answer."

When did this happen, other than in this scene 30 seconds earlier? Finn is an extremely passive guy (you see it in all his relationships, not just romantic and not just with Kurt) and vague uncomfortable looks in Kurt's presence that he hopes Kurt catches on to do not constitute a "no".

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer this! I must have missed the email or something.

To answer your question, I took the "I already have a date to the prom. Sorry, I know that's important for gay kids." (or whatever the exact quote is) as a pretty obvious "no," even if it didn't contain the word. I can understand why others feel differently, though.

True, but Finn doesn't say "Thanks, but I'm not interested in YOU" or "Thanks, but I'm not interested in GUYS", he says "I've already got a date." Which is no longer an obstacle, seeing as he broke up with Quinn. So now he's free to date Kurt, right?

I was so glad Finn finally shook off his passivity and said something to Kurt, though I could hope Finn's next growth moment will be to learn not to hold things in until he blows up in an ugly painful way for all involved. If Finn doesn't learn to speak up for himself, he's going to spend a lot of time unhappy and resentful, especially if he dates Rachel in season 2 - she's a freakin' bulldozer under the best of conditions. :) Finn needs to find out we'll all love him just as much if he doesn't try to people-please.
