Is it wrong that I'm tempted to tell the student that stole them to throw them out instead?

It's still not funny and makes me want to slap you, kidding or not.

You can't slap me. You're oath-bound not to hurt people.

I am also oath-bound to keep you from harm, even if you're harming yourself. If a slap is what will do it, then so be it. Besides, it really only applies if you're my patient.

I'm vaguely insane! HELP ME! See now? I'm your patient.

...I'm not a psychiatrist, you silly thing. You're my patient no longer.

..well, close enough. There's no psychiatrists around here. No SLAPPING ME.

Not close enough. I know nothing about Jungian Archetypes or the various phobias or all of the asinine acronyms or any of that. Don't give me reason to slap you and I won't have to.

You've HEARD of them. Close enough for me. Oh yes, because a joke is a real reason to slap some one.

It is when you know that person well enough to realize they aren't completely joking.

And sometimes people surprise you.

Or they're just lying.

Fine, fine fine. Perhaps...there was a little more to it than a joke. But still...it doesn't warrant a slapping. The lying might.

...right. One of my closest friends admits to me that he wants to die before his time and expects me not to get upset. The lying just made it worse.

Actually, I thought you were telling me when my time was. And I was pretty much saying it was fine by me. Come on, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I was, in the main, kidding. I..sorry.

It's when your time could be if you keep smoking and drinking. Look, I know you don't drink that much, but you shouldn't at all! You can easily live longer than that if you stop.

I know you didn't mean to. Don't apologize. And don't worry about it.
