My ongoing war with public utilities

So yesterday my phone turned to complete and utter static. Today was just as bad. I chatted Frontier and after dinking around we proved it wasn't the splitter and somehow made it worse. It went from static to 'line in use' with no dial tone (but no static). In the process I learned that I misplaced my corded phone which I had out the last time
