So I started going to a personal trainer two weeks ago and I'm fairly convinced he is insane. But I can already tell I have more muscle on my shoulders and arms and that's really exciting. Ohh the pain.

Ease into it.It's not how much you do in every session that counts.Doing a little bit regularly over a long period of time is better. Personal trainers are masochists and think that you ought to be one too.I think they have low self-esteem and this is their way to take it out on their surroundings. If you keep at it long enough there comes a time when you'll look forward to working out and miss it if you stop. I think it has to do with endomorphin withdrawal.
