Wow....bombs exploding, happily not the one in Sheppard's stomach.....wonderful rescue, Carson operating on John without an infirmary, his equipment and painkillers, Rodney not wanting to leave Sheppard alone in the cage, all of his team helping however they can during the operation...Ronon doing so even by refusing to look away. And John oc course, who is so brave, so stoic, so beautifully whumped and so determined to help by making Carson take the bomb out of him that can help get them all home...our hero. This was a magnificent chapter and I loved it to bits hon. And the cavalry's arrived....really glad Lorne's leading the charge. Off to the last one....
Thank you! This was a tough one to write. I had to get the bomb out but then had to get John to Atlantis and medical attention pretty quickly afterward, so he'd have a chance at survival.
Oh my! This was quite the climax! So much wonderful ShepWhump, the team's all there and there's tons of drama and tension. I loved how Rodney's bombs provided the cover for the first escape and the one Sheppard was carrying provided their way out. The surgery to remove the bomb gave me shivers. Such a perfect way to fight what has been done. Great chapter!
Thanks! I knew I wanted to use the bomb in Sheppard to get them out of there, but it was so hard trying to keep that suspension of disbelief going that he would survive something like that. I gave myself a lot of pep talks throughout this part: "It's a small bomb, and it's really close to the surface, and Carson's there, and they get back to Atlantis within minutes..." I also wanted Sheppard to have some role in facing down Shiana at the end, but all I could reasonably get him to do was wing her in the leg on the way out. :)
