[After having re-acclimated herself to her sudden move back to Mayfield, Yuuka has apparently decided to fall back into old habits and take a vaguely familiar stroll around town

[Theta isn't so much interested in the woman as she is the flowers popping up behind her. She leans heavily on her cane and limps along after her, curious.]
...It has. [Theta notes that she's either perceptive or just smart in general.]
Most everything is brown with sludge that flies through the air and settles over everything. Though it's still lovely in the country. But I'm from a major city--London, if you've heard of it.
No no, simply the march of human progress has included some...significant side-effects. Personally I think it would be much more sensible to let go of the things that so damage the environment and make use of clockworks, which produce so much less waste in the air, but...sometimes clockwork just isn't practical.
Oh, do you mean things like these automobiles which belch poisonous air?
I would think such things could be changed to run on some form of clockwork...though admittedly I don't know much about it. I never was the technical sort...more the nature sort.
[Yuuka just gives a blank smile as she speaks. She finds the talk of things which destroy the environment and devices that run on clockworks rather interesting, and just wishes to keep the woman talking.]
That's precisely what I mean. Most vehicles have been converted to run on clockwork, or else are still drawn by horses, but the industrial machines are coal fired, as are most of the home heating systems. The force of industry is a painful one, environmentally speaking.
[She looks at her curiously for a moment, then chuckles amusedly.]
Not going to lecture me or threaten to come to England to choke the machines?

[Yuuka only gives an odd little smile as she replies.]
Well, the outside world isn't necessarily one I spend a lot of time in, and there is no telling if your world is the same as mine. So, I suppose I'm not really too concerned with it.
Well, what good would it do to discipline ignorant humans? It does no good in my own world, I would imagine that it would do no good in yours, as well.
Well, I suppose staying at your home and rarely venturing out is a good way to avoid the general foolishness of the populace...but it can grow dull rather quickly.
Humans are best played with...it is an endless source of entertainment.

Or if I have, it was so long ago that I do not remember. Was the environment destroyed by some sort of calamity?

Merely curious.

[Theta is opening up and teasing a bit, which is at least intended as a positive thing.]

They are a bit inherently ignorant.

Yes, I suppose I can appreciate that sentiment wholeheartedly. [Says...the human.]
As an ergaleomancer, I find it horrific dealing with the ignorance of the populace, and try to do so as rarely as possible.

I believe humans can be taught better, they just need the leadership of an ergaleomancer to guide them.

I just think they need a good purging. A culling of the herd, if you will. That will likely be the best teacher.
[Yuuka gets an almost dreamy look in her eyes, as if imagining it is bringing her some form of light happiness.]

Mm, one day humanity will be enlightened, but it will be a long time in coming, I think.
