I was once into collecting "things" (many things)...and what you have just wrote just send a shiver down my spine; I was like this before!

To your last sentence;
someone once told me that to quit from an addiction or an obsession, the person need to find a higher cause;

I guess if I were you, I would try to step outside of it all and look in.
