Fuck yeah. I understand this phenomenon a little more in the cold-ass Tennessee winters, but even then I only eyeball the aisle once before making my choice. The fuckers who circle like vultures - I love sitting in my car, fixing my makeup, adjusting the radio and mirrors, and other such "prepare for takeoff"ness while Suzie Homemaker idles behind me with her signal on.
Any time saved between the car and the sliding doors of retail doom is lost during the laps and the idling.
Earlier this year one of my co-workers went out and started her car so it would be warm. She then came back inside to finish her shift (about 20 min). I noticed a car waiting to park and realized that she was waiting on a car that had no driver. We watched for 15 minutes as this idiot waited. She then pulled up so she could see that there was no driver. Did she go find another space? No, she backed up and waited some more. I could see vacant spaces within 25 yards or so but after all this was a "plumb" spot. I encouraged my co-worker to go to her car, but just to "get something" then return. I know, I'm a sick bastard, but this person had been waiting for almost 30 minutes to avoid a 20 yard walk.
I like how the people that go through all the trouble to find, refine, make, and deliver the gas make about $.03/gallon (those bastards). The taxfor a gallon of gas is where all the money's at. The feds get $.184/gallon, GA gets $.44/gallon plus 4% and ATL gets between 1 and 3 percent. But don't worry about those numbers, GA is raising the gas tax on July 1st. Turns out they need more money for all the extra travel from people staying at home. Turns out when gas doubles I guess the state makes less per gallon.
Personally I think it's a great idea to take away profits from people that earned it. I'm sure they'll still be motavited to keep people working and keep doing business as usuall. It's not like big oil is a global corporation and can stop bothering with the US (like many other companies that don't like being sued for no reason).
No. Wait. reverse that.
(now's not a good time to buy into petroleum by the way. It is about to fall a little)
