They've won the war, or rather they restored the status quo with Lucifer back in hell and sealed in with a stronger magic now that required all 666 seals to break to set him free again. Just because there are loopholes for demons doesn't mean that the angels can stay, too, which in Sam's opinion was fucking unfair but they hadn't been given a choice, not even Gabriel. Sam didn't know where Dean and Castiel were, saying goodbye, but he was here and Gabriel was here and what the hell do you say to the angel you love as a goodbye: 'Have a nice life in Heaven' felt wrong, everything felt wrong when your heart broke.

Sam’s not sure exactly how they got there, how they got from Gabriel popping up to give them a hand to Gabriel’s hands on his body, his lips on his skin, his voice filling the air with sweet sweet words, all of which is driving Sam crazy with warmth and lust and want; Gabriel is a tease and Sam should have known that.

It was one of the rare times John turned up at Bobby's with them, but they had summer vacation and John had take them out on the road and told Bobby he was on the way to a new place. Even if Bobby know John and his love of hunting he did question if it was that wise to break up from the place again and again for the boys; and of course John gave him the answer as long they didn't seem to suffer from it he didn't think it hurt them and that they seem to give little interest into wanting hunting themselves.
