My brain, and the mysterious ways in which it works.

This morning, on the train, I was quietly reading my book when I suddenly - for no apparent reason, as far as I could tell - found myself humming the song “Jimmy”, sung by Julie Andrews in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. I took my iPod from my bag, found the song, put in on and, still humming along, read on.
Only to realise - after reading another ( Read more... )

the office, randomness

Ha ha, I've been humming quite a lot in public actually. Very quietly though, not sure if anyone heard. 'Part from this one guy! I was humming whilst he was behind me but quickly stopped after a moment of doing so. Then, a few moments later, he turns 'round and starts singing a song in a "bom bu bu bom da bi bu la la" kind of way. Ha ha! It frightened me at first 'cause it was really loud amongst previous silence.

LOL! I think people should sing/hum in public more often. It would make the world a happier place! (Once we learn not to get scared anymore, that is.)

Ha ha, true! Most people are jolly when they're making a tune. I mostly see old men doing it, they're so sweet. But one guy I saw a few years ago, ha ha.. he did an EVIL tune. It was so dark and scary! I think I probably walked away in fear. =P He looked angry too, perhaps he was doing a theme tune of his emotions or something. Heh.

Ow that sounds scary... There's some scary folks out there so it makes sense they would make scary music. But I mostly hum happily!

I love connections like that. And I love how you had your iPod handy for whenever a song pops into your head!

Oh I hardly ever go anywhere without my iPod... I just love it. And it was SUCH a funny moment when I realized the Jimmy-connection!

Oh, sometimes I do, too. But there are times - when connections like this go on a lot and nobody gets what the hell I'm talking about - that I really curse my brain. To quote one of my favourite Dutch comedians: Sometimes, it's really unpleasant being me.

Humming in public places is brilliant. I do it all the time. If you hear someone humming at the secretariat, it's likely to be me. :P

Also, the people at your office are hilarious. xD

LOL. Especially if the humming concerned is a show tune, I assume?

My colleagues are fabulous. They're the only reason I haven't yet died of boredom.

Show tunes, or opera, or stuff from the fifties, or whatever. Anything. :P

Died of boredom? I thought you guys were busy? :P

Oh, we ARE busy. But somehow, I manage to be up to my eyeballs in work AND STILL BE BORED BY IT. I think I only need about 1% of my brain to carry out the routine tasks. (There are some more interesting bits of work, I do admit, but some of it I can do with my fingers up my nose...) So even though I might frantically be entering people into courses, I can STILL be bored.
Having a wondering, wandering mind is a Curse.

Also, if I think you're you but I'm not sure, I'll sing Judy's Get Happy as a code word. Song.
