When I think of Metro Man/Wayne Scott the expression, "People who are full of themselves are empty inside," comes to mind.
The thing with people who have narcistic tendencies is they exaggerate how great they are to hide how deeply insecure they are.
Though part of me wonders if Wayne's theatrics at the museum opening were just as much an act as Megamind pretending to be bad.

I did one of these at that comm, quite a while ago, and it was fun - and hard! - so it's really neat to see someone I know doing one as well. And these are great! You go everywhere in there, fun and sweet and sad and hot and aching and everything.
A few favorites - gentle, learn, vision, shadow, and fortune

And yay, thanks for picking some favorites! :D Actually, "Shadow" is my first choice for possible full-fic expansion--- so happy that you like it, too!
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. <3

Picture wins the irony prize. Ghost just makes me smile...for some reason. O_o
But the overall best'd be either Shadow or Never. Shadow because, well, that tiny little sentence says plenty. And Never's got a very interesting thought in it.
also all these people going on about how much they like this pairing should probably do fanstuff with them. 'Cause, y'know, saying this totally doesn't make me a hypocrite. XD

It's great that you saw that depth in Never; these two have so much in common, but in some regards, I think they couldn't be more different. They're both trying to restart their lives, but while Hal's philosophy is more of a "jettison everything and never look back" approach, I think Wayne is much more of a worrier. You can see it in that shot of him reflected over the old Metro Man costume--- he has very firmly decided not to return, but he's still agonizing over whether it was the right decision. That's the kind of doubt that manifests itself in bad dreams.
Wow, so many people have cited Shadow as their favorite that I feel I have no choice but to expand it into a full fic...
I KNOW RIGHT. Come on, guys!! Juno and I can't do it alone! XD
Very happy that you enjoyed this one. I must continue to remind you: you started it. ^_^
