“I don’t know. You don’t know Leslie,” he says jokingly, hoping it hides the fear he really feels.

“Maybe not, but she sounds a lot like you,” she says and Ben smiles, thinks of it as high praise. “And I think I know you pretty well.”

Awww, I loved this. I loved reading Ben's backstory/disappointments etc. I love how Leslie unwittingly helped bring him out of his funk. :)

Hopefully one of them (Ben?) will take his mother's advice and maybe quit the job for the sake of the relationship. I'm nervous about next season. :/

Blergh, I'm a little nervous about next season too. But, I really believe it'll work it out exactly the way we all want it too, even if it takes a little time.

I loved this little peek into Ben's relationship with his mother, and his past in the many towns he worked in before Pawnee.

I loved the backstory you gave us here, all the history and little details of Ben's career as an auditor--it was a wonderful way to flesh him out and show how he'd gradually become the guy who first showed up in Pawnee. And I love that you managed to make him seem like a nice guy who just really likes his mom, rather than a mama's boy--kind of tricky to pull offf, but you did it. And I love that his mom liked Leslie just from hearing about her from Ben's perspective. So sweet. :)

Thanks so much!! I love how deep of a character Ben is, so this is my tribute to that, in hopes of making him just a little deeper. And I totally believe that Ben would talk to his mom about Leslie, and that she would like her just from his description.

Awwww ... Ben's mom has a waffles/friends/work philosophy too! Love it. In my head, Ben's mom is a sweet Leslie-type person, so I love you version of her, and the idea that she's still a big part of his life, and the rest of the back story you've given him ... it's all wonderful.

Thank you soooo much! I really believe that Ben's mom would be similar to Leslie in a lot of ways, so I'm glad my version of her resonated with you.
