Oh, LJ.

TL:DR version: My LJ paid account has expired and I don't think I'll renew it ( Read more... )

I can't compare my use of FB with my use of LJ because they're radically different. I use FB to keep in touch with RL people. I rarely post pics of any kind there, I just comment on people's status and I sometimes update mine. I mainly use FB as a substitute of traditional email in the private messaging because it shows the entire conversation you've had with that person throughout the time. And for some reason, writing via Facebook takes less time and effort ( ... )

"And for some reason, writing via Facebook takes less time and effort."

I think this is exactly why I've been using it as opposed to LJ more often. How lazy is that?!

My FB use is also very different from LJ. It's funny, because I use it to connect with RL people as well, but what I post is much less personal. Of course, that's partly the nature of the beast since you can only post short messages. So even though I'm "connecting" with people I know in real life, the connection is much more superficial.

I don't know what I'll end up doing with my pictures, honestly. I could go to the "plus" account but I'd rather not have ads. It's high time for me to prune my scrapbook, though!

This comment ended up being so long....

Facebook was pretty much dead to me as soon as my extended family started popping up on there. Now that my in-laws are on it, I'm not sure if I'll ever update again. This is mostly driven by my uncle harassing me at multiple family gatherings because we didn't ask him to look at our A/C unit, even though Mike was the one who casually mentioned that it was broken on facebook. Also, my SIL has posted multiple nasty comments on innocuous facebook updates and harassed Mike (very rudely) to post pictures of the inside of our house, something I would prefer not to be on facebook. It has gotten to the point where I feel like a facebook update from me has to be so censored to keep people from jumping on me, I might as well not even bother.

Also, people seem to think that posting messages on my husband's facebook account counts as communication with "us," whereas I don't think it counts as communication at all, at least not for family and close friends. The only thing I really use facebook for now is ( ... )

I'm definitely going to keep using LJ! I just don't know that the features offered for the paid account are necessarily worth the money to me anymore. The photo storage is really all I use, and there are tons of free services out there for hosting pictures ( ... )

I really hate pictures of me from the last couple of years, especially since I've lost some weight now (not enough, though!). I really dislike the photos of me from my cousin's wedding. It didn't help that her photographer totally sucked at taking flattering ones.

I pretty much hate any picture of me from anyone else's wedding - no offense! It's just one of those things, you know? I usually end up wearing something I don't think is flattering or "me" and there end up being TONS of spontaneous photos where my mouth is hanging open or whatever. Spontaneous photos can be cute and fun, but maybe ask before putting them out there for everybody to see?!!

I'm not sure if I saw the ones from your cousin's wedding. But I really liked your outfit for Brad & Jen's wedding! I think you looked really cute, even if you had to put everything on last minute in the car ride over there! :P
