I read about David Eddings last night. :( His books were always reliable fun - two of my siblings and I tore them through all (repeatedly) from sixth or seventh grade all the way through high school.
Aw, I feel for the poor, hopeful commenters on that Ryan Kwanten interview. No, sorry, Lafayette is definitely really dead. If we're lucky we'll still get him in flashback scenes, but that's it.
I heard the director say on HBO, "If you've read the books, then you know Lafayette is dead," in a tone that suggested that he did not intend to deviate from this. Still, considering HBO's track record, I'd call this a spoiler. (A mistake, too. Lafayette was too much fun to kill off.)
