Hi-ho LJ! How goes?

Both spnspringfling and holmestice are live and there's some really good stuff up already as well as much more to come. See if you can spot me before the posting ends. *grins*

As promised, I have pictures to show off from my convention! Because I'm shameless like that.

*Jazz hands* )

it's not fair that you are so ridiculously talented in so many different areas. I tried to make my daughter a "knight" costume once by wrapping her soccer shin guards and bike elbow pads in tinfoil... it was so, so pathetic. Your costumes are amaze-balls.

springfling is just too much fun. It's a good thing they are all so short, because I want to read them aaaaaaallllll. I'm not good at guessing authors, but isn't there also some art coming? I might be able to guess some artists.

:)

I have to admit that the sewing is mostly my mum, because she's a wizard. My sister did the painting and the pendants, while I did the shoes, wigs and knuckle guards.

I usually do clothing props, like these hats and wigs or this 'suit' of armour or this vest. My sewing skills leave a lot to be desired. :) It's amazing what you can do with a little creativity, a lot of stubborn and some handy online tutorials though. *grins*

I know what you mean about the length - with 106 fics/arts in a week, that's a lot of posts to get through. And I'm no good at guessing authors either (mine's probably hard to spot this time around, anyway). There's been one piece of art go up that I saw, but there's definitely going to be more to come. So much fun!

:-O

HOLY SHIT THOSE COSTUMES ARE AMAZING. I mean, not like I thought you were spending time on half-assing something, but seriously. SO OVER THE TOP INCREDIBLE, I'M IN AWE OF YOUR TALENTS.

Now use these talents for good. Like making more Marksha icons :D

Well, I can be a hell of a slacker (as you know), so I wouldn't fault you if you'd had that thought. *laughs*

Thank you! We started waaay too late this year, so the madness of the last few weeks was even worse than usual, but it's always great to see them come together. Mostly, I'm just relieved that those shoes worked because I had no freaking idea what to do if they didn't.

I love his faaaaace, oh my god. Still so sad he didn't make it to Vegas con, but I have to admit that this is a pretty good excuse. *grins* I love watching him be evil.

I confess I am not familiar with the game, but you guys look incredible! Those costumes look stellar--yes, even the wigs. :P But you're right about the shoes. They're the first thing that popped out at me like "Ah! Such a cool effect!"

This is great and you should feel great. :DDDD

Thank you! It's a truly dorky hobby and I love it. Getting to inflict it on you lot's an added bonus. ^_^

Stupid wigs. You have to blow dry the spikes between each coat of hairspray and each spike has at least four coats of hairspray on it; it takes forever and there's absolutely no takebacks once the fibers stick in place. I used three full cans of hairspray between the two wigs, which means they should be amazingly flammable!

I found a tutorial online from someone else who'd done the costume and then kind of Macgyvered the rest. There's a pair of real shoes hidden inside; the front's a cut up clown shoe, the back is craft foam and fabric, and I made the soles from some of those big foam jigsaw pieces you put on floors. The spraypaint kept flaking off, which was sad, but they were really functional other than that.

...except for the fact that I kept kicking people because my foot was longer than usual. :P

Btw, if you're a gamer at all, you might enjoy Kingdom Hearts. It's by Squeenix (the company that does the Final Fantasy ( ... )

Yeah, wigs are fucking *rough* to take care of. I've basically given up on them in my dress up. Only my gay boyfriend in high school--who was a costume genius and who used me as his barbie doll--nows how to tame them.

I always do that when I'm wearing my hobbit slippers. XD THEY MAKE MY FEET LIKE TWICE AS LONG, CLIMBING STAIRS IS SO HARD LIKE THAT.

You know, I've been curious about Kingdom Hearts since it first came out when I was in 7th grade, and I've still never gotten a chance to play it. Alas, I'm too poor to be a gamer. I only have a Wii because I won it from my school, and I only own two games for it because my roommate bought them (as a ~present for me but really because she wanted to play them). I am, however, the fucking master at the three or four games I ever do get to play. XD

We started out picking costumes that didn't require wigs, then started branching out, so I've got a little collection now. I have no damn idea how I'm going to store these two, though; it's not like I can fold them flat. I may have to procure some hat boxes. Sans hats, I assume.

We totally did not take any stairs because I probably would have killed myself (and the shoes) if I'd tried it. Elevators all the way, baby. EVERYONE ELSE CAN JUST GET OUT OF MY WAY. LADY WITH BIG SHOES COMING THROUGH.

I'm lucky in that both of my siblings are also video game nerds and it's easier to afford the games and systems when you split the cost. The Playstation II is probably my favourite system for the single player games it has (read: mostly RPGs), although Nintendo has the best multiplayers and Zelda. Which is always awesome. I'm generally shit at most games so no online multiplayers for me (thanks anyway, Halo) but I do like my fantasy games. What have you got for the Wii?

The Tomorrow People is the one new show on the CW that I'm looking forward to. It makes me so happy that there will be so many new sci-fi shows next season. Too bad none of them will be space-based. Oh well... Better something than a kick in the balls, right?

*laughs* There are some shows that are definitely not better than a kick in the balls, but there look to be some pretty sweet prospects this year (For example, I'm curious about how Sleepy Hollow is a TV show and not a movie, but I like the look of it. Also, Almost Human and it's wonderful Karl Urban).

I wasn't sure about this one for the first minute or so of the trailer, then crazy teleporting happened and I was all 'hello, this looks pretty cool'. And then not-actually Lucifer showed up and I was totally sold. ^_^

Thank you! It's always really satisfying to see the whole costume come together because usually we're working on them until the very literal last minute so it's kind of a surprise until then. ^_^

I love the atmosphere at this con (full of nice crazy people dressed up as fictional characters) - never been to another one quite like it.
