Sickbed take 3

Nov 03, 2009 16:42

Saturday afternoon I started to get a scratchy throat and a cough, which then morphed into an even worse cough and a low grade fever by Sunday, and then a 102 degree fever on Monday. This is the third time I've been quite sick in the last four months and each time it's gone straight to my lungs. Something is definately amiss. I spent all afternoon ( Read more... )

You look fabulous.

Feel better. (I completely understand the fear of catching something worse.)

Sorry for the ridiculously belated response. Just catching up on comments now.

I do feel lots better. I've been taking a steroid inhalent that's helped with the inflammation in my lungs and my coughing is down to a minimum now. Here's hoping I get more than a month reprieve between now and the next sickness.

You look great. I am from the 50's and remember the more glamorous look of the rich and famous. The rest of us wore pale pink lipstick in the day time and very little eye make up. (Didn't want to look like "easy" women, you know.) And fixing your hair was a night before and at least 45 minutes every morning affair. Still, you carry off this look marvelously.

Get well soonest.

Thanks! It was great fun dolling myself up. It's amazing what a little hair and make up can do to make you look different.

Very interesting thoughts regarding your memories of the 50s look. I didn't realize heavier make-up would have come across as slutty. Hm. And the time it took for the hair is crazy! I'm a brush it out and go type of girl, so having to labor over setting it and styling it would have driven me bonkers. I'd get too impatient.

Hee, thank you. I always enjoy dressing up. It's great fun to transform yourself and see the changes that come of it.

I can happily report that the sicknses has dissipated and I'm left with a cough only here and there. The inhaler they gave me is doing its magic.

pictures are fab; everyone here has swine flu (like seriously 3/4 of the people i know, i think because there was an out break with 34 confirmed cases at the state fair in september and it's still floating around). tricky and i luckily have steel immune systems, so we've been fine and dandy, at least on that front.

wish you well, sweet.

You look amazing!!

Hope you're feeling better by now or at least knowing for sure what's wrong!!

I've been away for a while (trip to France, mum booting me off the puter all the time, back in NZ now in my own house (without a man telling me off cos I haven't done the dishes yet) and loving it).

Thanks! Dressing up is possibly one of my favorite things to do. I love seeing how different I can get myself to look.

And am feeling a lot better. Thanks for asking. A visit to the pulminologist shortly after this post revealed that I don't have pneumonia or any infiltrate in my lungs, but that I did have this acute inflammation that never healed after each successive bout of sickness. It was exacerbating my cough. So they put me on steroid inhalents and that's been working really well. I have a follow up appointment this coming week.

And congratulations on your life changes. It sounds like the split from your husband and some much needed time away with your kiddies and families did the trick. We all need some revitalization. Hope things will run smoothly from here on out. It's good to see you back!

I'm glad to hear the treatment is working!!

Things are going ok so far, he did my lawns before taking the kids to his house for the next two nights. We talked about Christmas and he agreed with my plan (I'm no longer invited to his family's Christmas, even though they're the only family I have in this country and have been for the past 8 years) so yay.
