Oh man, I just received the weirdest feedback on Unique over at FF (...which I apparently haven't updated since 2013. And not because it's FF, but because I haven't been active in fandom that long...yikes). The comments were well intentioned and passionate, but also ( Read more... )

Comments on old fic are like a mini-tardis - taking you back to a time and place and you realising, 'Gosh, so not what I'm doing anymore'

It really does take you back in time! And also looking at FF.net was a reminder that apparently the last time I really was doing fic was the beginning of 2013. Which is now FOUR YEARS AGO (?!?!!!!!!)

It does make me miss it, though! Not the random weird feedback (of course it's FF.net Of course it is.) But I was looking at some of the other comments from the original post on LJ, back in the days of the Crossover Big Bang and... I'd forgotten how much work and care I put into it. (I mentioned in a comment reading two of the books, even though I was only going to be dealing with Dexter show canon, to see how the author handled first person narration and to maybe approximate some of that style). I kind of miss that. (And all the comments, of course).
