Pros Fic Rec - Object of Desire by Courtney Gray

I feel like I've not been reading much Pros lately, although I've dabbled in bits and pieces, but then this morning I randomed at CA, and I was going to post this to my lj, and then realised that I should be posting recs to ci5hq, really, so... *g*

Yes, I think Object of Desire is one of her best stories. It's well-told, has a real emotional impact, and is just highly enjoyable to read. It's high on my list of stories that I reread. I like how Doyle is curious, and slightly (much to his own disgust) insecure in this new area of their relationship. And Bodie is rock solid and, as we see, utterly devoted to Doyle. It's a splendid story.

It is good, isn't it! And actually, even through Bodie's certainty and devotion he's got his own deep-seated uncertainties about Doyle, and I do like the psychological h/c of that too... *sighs happily*

Ooh... since you're free these days, perhaps you fancy joining in the little game I've suggested in my next post... *g*

Also a favourite. One of the very very few stories I can think of that can make me believe in our actual lads, (almost!) as we see them on screen - as opposed to a couple of lookalikes - having a brush with this side of sexuality. A great exploration of their relationship, and very well constructed.

(Like the idea of the game, but can't be sure 'cause I'm waiting for a work email that's supposed to have arrived by now (dammit) so it could get here any minute. (excuses, excuses! *g*))

Oh wow - so you don't actually see canon in lads in Prosfic when you read it?! I've got to admit that if I can't see canon lads in any way at all, then I stop reading, cos I might as well be reading original fic...

And hah - excuses, excuses... and there was me hoping for Prosfic to read with 11.30am lunch today - looks like I'll have to stick with German history after all and forget about Prosfic altogether!

I didn't express that very well - I meant one of the few that can convince me they'd have anything to do with d/s. There are quite a lot of fics that have them into d/s, bondage, bdsm .... but most of those don't seem to me to be very like them to me. (some, maybe, at a stretch. There is one I remember where it's a catharsis thing for Bodie, which works for me - followed by them heading off for a bacon buttie, iirc *g*).

Oh okay - and phew! *g* (Though you've got me confused with d/s... dom/sub? I'm so rubbish... *g*)

The right author can convince me that the lads might experiment with bdsm etc - Kitty Fisher does, cos she's got the idea of it being a kind of catharsis in everything she writes and I can imagine either lad going that way. You might be thinking of Josey's bdsm fic - can't think of its title right now, but I liked that one too... I think writers probably have to get bdsm themselves in order to make it work though, and I'm not sure everyone does...

I clicked on the prosficspoilers link (trying to get a sense of how it works) but couldn't see anything there for this story.

Possibly not yet - it'll take a little while for them to get organised and running. If you feel strongly about spoilers yourself (I noticed you joined prosficspoilers, and I suspect you've already read this particular fic *g*) then I'm sure the mod would appreciate a spoiler being posted for it by someone else. I'm surprised she's not made an announcement asking people to do so, but perhaps she was assuming everyone who wanted spoilers would just jump in?

The actual Prosficspoilers comm isn't something I'm involved with - since I don't believe in spoilers etc myself *g* - but the idea is that those people who do feel strongly about them will all contribute to create a list of stories with spoilers. People who want spoilers can then simply click twice from a story to find them (at Prosficspoilers) and people who don't want spoilers aren't forced to be involved or to see them.
