Woot!

May 08, 2009 10:34

Tickets for 6:20 tonight, kids! (I thought a 5:30 show was cutting it too close, considering that Erik doesn't get off work until 5:00).

I'll be lucky if I can concentrate on much of anything today, but I guess it doesn't matter too much since it's a Friday.

Can't wait!

Sorry! Maybe you can squeeze a viewing in some time this weekend (or make your kids take you as part of your Mother's Day present). ;-)

Posted my review on my LJ--with spoilers. W/o all I can say is I did enjoy it, but I don't think it's up there with say Wrath of Khan. Not emotionally moving, but zips by quickly. Fun.

I saw your review but didn't want to read it (yet) because of the spoiler-y content. :-)

And really, is anything up there with WoK? (Especially if you play the Wrath of Khan drinking game while you're watching it...take a shot every time someone says "Kirk," "Khan," or "Kobayashi Maru." I guarantee you will get f*cked up in no time.)

Bwwwwwwwwaa.

You have a point. OK, if I tried to rank movies and include this one:

1) Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan
2) Star Trek VIII: First Contact
3) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
4) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
5) Star Trek (the current one)
6) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
7) Star Trek X: Nemesis
8) Star Trek: VII Generations
9) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
10) Star Trek I: The Motion Picture
11) Star Trek IX: Insurrection

I'd leave the latest tied probably for fifth with STVI: TUC and ST X: Nemesis--enjoyable even if not particularly outstanding, on the border that separates the good from the bad and ugly.

You'll have to let me know what you think after you see it. I think my friend and beta Djinn, who I know from back in our Trek days will hate it knowing how she feels about certain things--the reaction among die hard fans so far seems mixed.

Well, I wouldn't call myself a diehard fan. That is, I've watched most of the shows (except Enterprise...I bailed out on that one early on because boobalicious Vulcan chick annoyed the hell out of me), and Wrath of Khan is definitely in my top 10 favorite movies of all time, but I've always been more of a Star Wars fan.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not the type to freak out if they diverge from canon a bit as long as the story makes sense and is entertaining and exciting.

At any rate, I know there's no way any sequel (or prequel) could ever disappoint me as much as The Phantom Menace did. :-P
